Supporting Our Local Kindergartens

Many Year 5 and 6 students attend two of our local kindergartens - Autumn Place and Good Start on a fortnightly roster.

We have been collaborating with these two organisations for a few years. I am always impressed and proud of the students, their commitment and their amazing attitude toward the younger children.

Each week I am witness to patience, empathy and friendliness.  Our children put the interests of the younger children at the heart of their actions. It is great to see some of our quieter children open up and demonstrate their socialising skills and 'teaching' the younger ones.

Time together is beneficial for both younger and older students.

Covid did halt our attendance for some time, but this term, we have had the opportunity to recommence our visits.

Last week, when the children began at Good Start, they got right into it by reading the story of the Hungry Caterpillar (Thank you, Petar) and helping the children to create a part of the caterpillar's body which they all put together to create one very big caterpillar for their storytime display.  (We are waiting for some photos of this fabulous display). In the meantime, we would like to share some photos of the children getting to know the younger people at Autumn Place.
