Christmas Play

Christian Options is a local church community bringing a play to the school for students to watch at lunch time on Monday 29th November.

If you do not want you child to watch the play, please let their teacher know via email.

The Christmas presentation this year is a quiz show titled “Minute to Win It”. The introduction of the presentation confirms that Christmas is widely celebrated throughout the world and is a major celebration on the Australian calendar, with a public holiday and a commercial lead up time of 3 months.

Christians believe there was a first Christmas and more information about this event is found in the key book for Christians, the Bible.

This information is “discovered” using a quiz show format in which the 2 contestants are asked questions and the choice of an answer from multiple choice statements. As the contestants think about the possible answer they can request a clue. The clues take the form of a one minute act of an event about the first Christmas taken from the Bible. Tension builds as the contestants’ scores increase and bonus points are won or lost. There is a sense of fun written into the answer choices and in the thinking processes used by the contestants as they chat to themselves about possible answers.

Students have an opportunity to choose to participate in some of the one minute clues by dressing up as angels and wise men.

Understanding that we are a multicultural and multi-faith society, the actors state throughout the play that the information is what Christians believe to have taken place in the events that began at Christmas and what Christians believe the importance of this event is.
