WHAT'S HAPPENING @ SCSC?

YEAR 7 - Wellbeing Workshops
RESPECT: Our Year 7 students began a series of wellbeing workshops.
Mel (our Health Promotions Nurse) and Shelley (our Mental Health Practitioner) lead students through a range of activities and discussions about friendship and navigating social situations. Students identified their top traits they look for in a friend.
Art Academy
FLOURISH: Our Art Academy students have been working on a couple of fabulous art pieces. Love to see the expression and talent of our students!
VCAL
STRIVE: Another VCAL Improving Communities Project almost complete!
Can you guess who will be the lucky recipients of our custom made picnic tables?
Thanks to our friends at Bunnings Torquay for their generous donation of timber for this project.
Surf Coast Youth Awards
STRIVE: Massive congrats to J Wake, Mink C, former student Mia Huppatz (sister to Isla) and all other winners for their fantastic contributions to our community!
Celebrating Student's Past
RESPECT: Son of one of our founding teachers Renae Carmichael, nominated for Victoria’s Young Australian of the Year Award. Sensational! (Courtesy of Geelong Advertiser)

Shout out to ex-student Kyra Cooney-Cross who has been in 2 games so far against Brazil. It has been a real credit to her to be in the starting line ups for each game and blitzing it! Brilliant effort.
Welcome to our New Excursions Officer
~ Demi Kingston
Within my new role as Excursion Coordinator at Surf Coast Secondary College, I'm beyond excited to be involved with planning the amazing events, excursions, and incursions the school has to offer. It's even more special to be part of this process now that we can go out and about again!
Before taking on this role, I worked for a local creative business as the Wholesale and Social Media Manager. Through that job I grew a love of all things local, and gained a habit of using a large amount of Post-It notes for projects - both key traits that I think will transfer perfectly to my role here.
There are so many things I am looking forward to with my new role here at SCSC. Most of all I am looking forward to being part of a school community, and helping students engage with school through incredible excursions and opportunities.
World Teachers Day - 29th October
It was World Teachers Day on the 29th October. We just want to give a HUGE shout out to thank our teachers for all that you do in your role as educators for our young people at Surf Coast College. You are a wonderful team who go over and beyond, who genuinely care for our students, spend long hours preparing especially over the last few years between remote learning and onsite. We salute you and are very proud to have you teaching the kids in our wonderful community!
