Principal's Report

Remembrance Day was recognised by all staff and students on Thursday. All students have been involved in an artist poppy presentation. The return to school has gone really well and we are now back to our happy school with students’ voices, laughter echoing through the school and everyone getting very quickly back into their routine.

Stay Cool and Hydrated

With the change in weather over the coming weeks, I would like to remind our students to ensure they are wearing their Sun Smart hat and drinking plenty of water throughout the day. It is important to keep up our fluid intake and find a comfortable place to play in the shade when the weather heats-up. We have had a few high pollen count days so please make sure that if your child is asthmatic that they have their preventative puffers before they come to school.

2022 Curriculum Contributions and school packs (COS)

Just a reminder that information regarding the 2022 Curriculum Contributions and school packs (COS) were sent out this week. For families who would like to enter into a payment plan, this can be done via Compass or for an individual plan please contact Lori (in the office). If you order your school pack by January 11th 2022, COS will send your pack to your home for no charge, otherwise there will be a delivery fee.

Prep Transition

We are delighted to welcome our new 2022 Prep students into the school this week for our 2nd transition and also induct their parents into our wonderful school.  Thank you to our amazing Prep staff who have offered a fantastic transition program to our new families, and making sure that our families and students transition to the school the best way possible.

Xmas Raffle

I am delighted to announce that the Community Hub are putting together a Xmas raffle that you do not have to purchase a ticket for. This raffle is to celebrate the effort of all students for their commitment and flexibility during our Remote Learning. We have decided that due to another challenging year, we will be placing every student into the raffle (no payment required) and will be drawing out three names. The winners will receive:

  • First prize will be $100 Westfield Knox Shopping Centre voucher
  • Second prize will be a wonderful set of Pig the Pug books by Aaron Blabey
  • Third Prize will be a GIANT Toblerone

The raffle will be drawn on Wednesday the 16th of December …. Good luck to all of our students.

Cuddle Bears for Preps

As you may be aware we offer our prospective families starting Preps a Cuddle Bear.  We have volunteers who knit these bears, many are staff members and grandparents. We are asking our community to donate any wool that they may have at home to help with this.  All donations will be greatly accepted.

2022 Enrolments

With planning and preparation well underway for 2022, it is vital that we are aware of enrolment changes for next year. If you know that your child/children will not be attending Boronia Heights Primary School in 2022, it would be appreciated if you would inform teachers and the office staff as soon as possible. Your attention to this will assist us greatly with forward planning.

Helmets – Safety and Bike Education Program

It has been great to see so many students riding to and from school since our return. I would just like to remind all parents and students that if they are riding their bike or scooter to and from school they are required to wear a helmet at all times. Please make sure that your child has a lock for their bike.

Thank you to our amazing Year 4 staff and MS. Mitchell for the fun, informative and very practical Bike Education Program that all Year 4 students will participate in during this term. This is such a valuable program where students have their bikes and helmets checked to make sure that they are up to the Victorian standards, and it is a fun program that students learn so much information around bike safety issues and further develop the student’s bike skills.

Take Care and have a Great Weekend.
