What a wonderful day we had in our comfy clothes, eating and drinking and watching a movie!
What fun we had!!
We are excited to announce our Second Library Evening on Tuesday 27th of June. Parents must accompany their children.
School Starting and Finishing Times
Just a reminder that school lessons start at 8:50 am and all students must be at school by then. Supervision is from 8:30 am in the courtyard and playground. We have Breakfast Club every morning for the students who may not have had breakfast that morning. School finishes at 3:00 pm and teachers remain on duty until 3:20 pm. Any student who is not collected by 3:20 pm will be sent to OSHC and charges will apply.
Semester 1 Reports
Every student will receive their Semester 1 Report at the end of this term.
Last year St Brigid's School engaged in a trial to create a new reporting system. This year, all Catholic schools are using the SEQTA reporting system as we did last year. The following A-E Grade Scale is used for Year 1 to Year 6, to report student achievement. This scale complies with the 2013 Education Act and Education Regulations.
The acronym 'IE' is utilised when there is insufficient evidence to assess a student's academic performance during a reporting period. Typically, this situation arises when a student is new to a school or has been absent for an extended duration.
Reception Reports
Schools are not required to assign A - E grades or word equivalents in reporting on student achievement in the Reception year. A three-point descriptive wording scale will be used to report student progress against the Achievement Standards of the Reception Year in the Australian Curriculum.
Three-Point Scale:
In the context of Health and PE, a single grade is assigned since both subjects share an achievement standard. Consequently, the grade for Health and PE represents an average of the performance in both areas.
If your child is following a Personalised Plan for Learning and requires modifications to access the curriculum at an adapted level, this information will be mentioned in the report comment.
Parents will receive ample notification if their child is expected to receive a 'D' grade, ensuring that it does not come as a surprise. Prior to the report being issued, teachers will hold meetings with parents to discuss and explain strategies and adjustments designed to support the student's learning.
Student Safety
As your Principal, it is my job to ensure the safety of your children at school, but I need your help and support to keep all our children safe.
Please - I can not stress this enough - Please cross at the crossing, not between the cars. This is very very dangerous and you can actually be fined if caught!
Whilst I'm writing about traffic - please abide by the road signs and DO NOT park in the NO STANDING, or DO NOT PARK in the crossing - this is unsafe for our students and our staff as they have to move further into the road without being able to see the oncoming traffic as cars are parked there. Everyone will be able to collect their child/ren and they are constantly supervised and, so we can all go home after the school day please follow the road rules for EVERYONE'S SAFETY.
In Peace Love and Learning,
Shannon Correll
