Going Green

Green News!

Hi I’m Traci and I am passionate about sustainability!

We are implementing some changes here at HPS including some new ideas for the snack shack.

  • No more tomato sauce sachets
  • No more soy sauce fish sachets

All classes will have their own large bottles of sauce and soy which the canteen will replenish when necessary

  • No more bamboo cutlery. Students are asked to bring metal cutlery from home.
  • Gradually all our containers from the SNACK SHACK will be compostable
  • LIDS4KIDS:

Each class will collect lids from milk bottles etc at home and we will deliver these to LIDS4KIDS where they will be turned into amazing new things!  They can be recycled to make prosthetic limbs for disabled children using 3D printing.   Next time you are planning to throw your bottle cap away, think twice as it can be used to make prosthetics for children using 3D technology. Plant pots, clipboards, bowls, pens, earrings and phone holders are some of the other uses for these lids.

  • Please ramp up the NUDE FOOD lunch boxes. Leave the wrappers at home and bring popcorn/chips in reusable containers.

We will feature some photos of AMAZING nude food lunchboxes in future newsletters.

Please help us plan for a better more sustainable future.  Any ideas please email me. Tracy.cenedese@education.vic.gov.au
