LifeLink Day

Archbishop’s LifeLink Day Forum 2023

On May 18, five (5) St Norbert College students attended the Archbishop's Forum for LifeLink Day 2023 held at Aranmore Catholic College. The students were able to meet with other students from all over the state to discuss this years topic of Synodality - journeying together as people of God.

This great event, held annually, allows students to engage with leaders from Catholic Education Western Australia and the Catholic Church. This year's discussion panel was led by Archbishop Timothy Costelloe (Catholic Archbishop of Perth), Bishop Donald Sproxton (Auxiliary Bishop of Perth), Father Vincent Glynn (Vicar for Education and Faith Formation) and Dr Debra Sayce (Executive Director of CEWA).

The students discussed the value of listening and dialogue between people as well as the importance of outreach to those less fortunate. The students were also able to share their ideas about the present and future of the Church with Archbishop Costello and Bishop Sproxton. Some discussion points included:

  • Pope Francis often said that “listening is more than hearing” – What do you think he means?
  • Non-Government Organisations provide much needed community aid, relief and care to the vulnerable and those in need across our world – Outline how you see the Church uniquely contributing to community aid, relief and care efforts to the vulnerable and those in need as followers of Jesus.

The students represented the College with pride and contributed to discussions with thought and consideration, returning to the College inspired to continue to walk in the footsteps of Jesus by committing to serving others.

A special thank you to Ms Kyd and Ms Abel for helping students to prepare for this unique opportunity.
