We were blessed with the most glorious weather on Friday 2 June for our St Norbert Day celebrations. Thank you to Fr Peter and the Nobertines for a beautiful mass in the O’Reilly Centre. The O’Reilly Centre was named after one of our three Founding Fathers from Kilnacrott, Ireland: Fr Peter O’Reilly, Fr John Reynolds and Fr Stephen Cooney. As the only Norbertine school in Australia, we are thankful for the pioneering spirit of the Norbertines who built our College which opened in 1965. I thank Ms Kyd and Mrs Palermo for the preparation of the mass and Miss Abel and the St Norbert Day Committee (Mrs Rogers, Ms Leddy, Miss Firth, Mr D’Souza, Miss Jane) for organising the events after the mass. The much-anticipated Staff v Students Netball and Soccer games were fiercely fought. Thank you to Mr Di Labio and Mrs Crocker for co-ordinating the concert ably hosted by Art Captain Brodie Christie. Every Homeroom organised a stall and I thank all staff for the hardwork in preparing food and games.
I was proud of the way our students conducted themselves throughout the day.
“For us to thrive at St Norbert College, we want to feel safe, included, respectful of myself and others, and part of a positive College community”
Last Wednesday I met with students to remind them of the Student Charter/Code of Conduct recently updated by them. It was a timely reminder that our actions build community or in some situations, poor decisions show disrespect to members of the community. A minority of students needed to be challenged to respect school property, themselves and others. I thank the majority of students in our community that uphold the good name of the College and are “Prepared for all good works”.
We farewell and thank:
I welcome Miss Raya Thompson to the Science Learning Area for the remainder of 2023.
God bless
