Young Drivers Seminar, Mothers Day Breakfast
On Tuesday night, the St Norbert College Parent Committee hosted a Parent Seminar about road safety and educating young drivers to be safe, sensible and aware at all times. Parents and older students were invited to hear Ian Bransby – SNC dad and career firefighter – draw upon his years of experience in attending accidents to share those key observations that increase risk for young drivers.
Ian’s presentation was informative, at times scary but always engaging and easy to listen to. Ian drew heavily upon both his experience as an emergency responder but also on his role as a dad to his three kids sharing their journeys of learning to drive and feel comfortable on the road. Whilst many families booked to attend the evening, the bad weather kept some people at home but those who did attend found Ian’s presentation most rewarding.
Ian has kindly offered to come back to the College and present to our senior students about road safety and limiting risk on the roads – something very topical as many of them are just starting out on the roads.
The Parent Committee thanks Ian and his family for being so willing to present to our community on such an important topic.
IN a wonderful celebration of the College community, more than 230 mothers, grandmothers and carers joined their students at the Xanten Performing Arts Centre Foyer for the annual Celebrating Mums Breakfast.
Enjoying trestles of treats – from sliders to sweets plus coffee from two visiting vans – guests enjoyed catching up and hearing from the Parent Committee, which hosted the event.
Each parent received a rose from their son or daughter – and some lucky mums walked away with prizes as well as fond memories of another successful Mother’s Day event.
If any parents would like to be involved in the organising of our next event, or wishes to find out more about being on the Parent Committee, please contact Mr Hawke on peter.hawke@norbert.wa.edu.au
