From the Principal

Welcome to Week 7

There will be some significant changes regarding school access from Whittington Street commencing next week. The demolition of the existing verandah behind the administration area and student toilet block will start at the end of week 8. The fencing off of the worksite will take place on Monday, June 19. For an extended period of time, there will not be access to the school via the western gate near the gym. All entry to the school grounds will be via the front gate on the eastern side of the office and via the gate off Barrington Avenue. There will not be access to the school grounds via the front office. Students who need to come to the office/first aid room during the day will access it through the library.

The steel work has been completed, with the roofing crew onsite today. Plumbers and electricians have been around the place taking care of the preliminary tasks. The new administration building is scheduled for completion in October. Once complete, we will move staff in and commence work on the existing administration block, converting it into a library. The current library becomes an Italian/Art Room.

Congratulations to our year 5/6 basketball teams who took part in the Catholic North/Eastern Carnival last week.  This was the second year of the event and it was great to have so many enthusiastic players keen to play and represent our school. The students had a great time and played very well. A special mention to our girls' team who came third on the day.

For those who missed the news, congratulations to Miss Julie Jurkovic who has secured a full time position at another Catholic School as their term 3 Reception Teacher.  Julie has been part of our school community for many years, commencing as a student and concluding as the JP Performing Arts Teacher.  Many would know Julie as our OSHC Coordinator, a role she held before completing her teaching degree.  Julie will finish up at St Gabriel's at the end of this term.  We wish Julie all the very best.

Mark Le Messurier is presenting a workshop entitled ASD and its impact on your family. The evening, hosted by Catholic School Parents SA, will take place on Tuesday, July 4 at St John the Baptist Catholic School, Plympton.  Further information  can be found in this edition in the Advertisements section.
