Junior School

Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men.
Colossians 3:23

The staff at King’s College go about their work, as if for the Lord. They serve the school community by way of honouring Him. Alissa Griffin, Year 2 teacher,  exemplifies this in her work and studies. Last week, Alissa travelled to Melbourne to receive a ‘PETAA Award for Excellence in recognition of outstanding ability in academic studies and teaching practice’. We are so incredibly proud of her and are so grateful that she is teaching here at King’s College.

Prep

The Preps have been enjoying using pattern blocks to learn about and make patterns this week. They worked with a partner to make a pattern before the timer went off! They are so clever!

Year 1

A highlight to conclude our Science Unit on Living and Non-Living things was spending time in the playground searching for mini creatures and creating habitats for various animals and mini beasts. Our Year 1 students set a great example of teamwork, with much laughter and fun had by everyone. We also enjoyed celebrating Mother’s Day and thanking God for the many ways our mums love up and help us.

"Children, if you want to be wise, listen to your parents and do what they tell you, and the Lord will help you.”
Ephesians 6:1-3

Year 5

Whether it is playing kickball, acting out a scene that represents democracy, creating zip lines out of everyday materials or getting excited over books in the library, Year 5 excels at enthusiasm, creativity and teamwork. Well done Team 5 -  you are a delight to teach and make King's College proud!

Year 5 also conducted a House of Representatives mock debate for the “No Homework Bill”. Students wrote persuasive speeches and elected to represent either the government, opposition or independent parties. Fantastic participation by all.

Sustainability News

Last week, the Year 4's went out in the beautiful sunshine to pick up litter from the school grounds. This started a discussion on how we can minimise waste and litter as a whole school.
