An Engaging Engagement Enactment!

There was much excitement in the Possum room on Tuesday as the children and families were blinded by the glare of a sparkling diamond weighing down Miss Parker’s left hand ring finger. “Miss/Mrs/Mr Parker’s getting married!” said the passel of Possums! When we had recovered from the bling induced blindness, we sat in group time, and I re-enacted the proposal wearing a veil of white tablecloth and carrying a posy of plastic purple petunias. I (acting as Dr. Dan) declared my undying love for her, and how a major attraction to the marriage for her could be free doctor consultations for the rest of her life!

Amidst great guffawing and “We are not amused…” expressions on some of the children (and educator’s) faces, Miss Parker managed to snap these two rather unflattering photos of me, and then answered with a rather embarrassed ’Yes, yes I will marry you!” Group time then consisted of taking turns answering the question posed by Miss Parker – “Children, what do you think I should wear to my wedding?” Dresses, crowns, tiaras and toilets were mentioned, and some comments best stay forever in the Kinder cone of silence.

During the day’s ongoing celebrations that rivalled the recent coronation of the King, we sang a resounding ukelele backed rendition of ‘Happy Engagement to You!’, ate delicious cupcakes, and Mr Rouse even came over with a card and treated us to a book reading in honour of the occasion! It was a wonderful start to the week in the ELC, and on behalf of all the staff, students, King’s families and wider community, we offer our congratulations to Beth and Dan and we ask God’s blessing upon them both for a joy filled future.

Koalas

This term we welcomed two new friends joining our Koala group and it is great to see everyone is settling into our Kinder really well. Last week the children were invited to bring a favourite teddy or soft toy to join in our Teddy Bear’s Picnic at Kinder. During indoor activities, the children enjoyed participating in watercolour painting, teddy bear puzzles and pasting activities. At group time, we read some bear books and sang some fun songs such as Rock-A-Bye Your Bear and Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear Turn Around. It was a really fun day with lots of special friends.
