WELLBEING AT WEMBLEY
Week 6 is here! It has been lovely seeing so many year groups going on excursions recently and hearing all the wonderful stories of what the students have seen.
As you are probably aware, there have been a few news stories involving schools in Victoria. We are proud of the empathy that our students have shown. It is not always easy seeing news that resonates due to the locality, nature of what has happened or the age of those involved. If your child has been affected by any of these events, please reach out to us at school so that we can point you in the direction of suitable support. The JSC are in the process of organising an end of term fundraising event, where the money raised will go to those affected.
SCHOOL WIDE POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR SUPPORT
Fortnightly Behaviour Focus
Over the last fortnight we have been focusing on the behaviours of accepting and adapting to show resilience. In every class students engaged in lessons about 'Accepting and Adapting'. As part of these lessons, students looked at scenarios where they could practise how they might show resilience by accepting and adapting, they have watched videos about the ways many animals have to adapt to their environments and have read books where characters had to show resilience and accept and adapt to their circumstances.
Nominations
Thank you to all the students who nominated their peers when they saw them showing last fortnight's focus of 'Accepting and Adapting'. It was wonderful to read about all the great ways students have been accepting and adapting to the situations they encounter. Well done to all of our preps, as this was the year level who made the greatest number of nominations. Well done for being so good at recognising when others are accepting and adapting! Congratulations to each of the students who won the Wembley Values Award for their year level for showing resilience by accepting and adapting.

FORTNIGHTLY BEHAVIOUR FOCUS - ACCEPTING & ADAPTING
This week we have introduced our next behaviour focus: ‘Being Courageous’. Students have been learning what ‘Being Courageous’ means and how they can use this skill to help them. Students and all Wembley staff, including classroom teachers, education support staff, specialists, members of leadership and our office staff will be watching for when students are showing courage and recording a nomination for these students.
Watch the video below where some of our students explain what ‘Being Courageous’ means to them and why it is important to do.
UNDERSTANDING SENSORY PROCESSING
Maribyrnong Council are offering a session for families on 'Understanding Sensory Processing'. The session is aimed at families who would like to support their children aged 2 - 6 years with sensory processing, emotional regulation and impulsivity. This session is being presented online by DOTS Occupational Therapy for Children on Thursday 1 June from 7:30pm - 9:00pm. For details please see the brochure below. You can book your place through the following link: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/understanding-sensory-processing-tickets-481384793877.
A reminder that breakfast club runs Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8.30 - 8.55am.
Due to one of Year 1 classes having to move into the staffroom, we may have to alter what is being served until we have access to the staffroom back again. Please bear with the team whilst we manage these temporary changes.
This week Ginny enjoyed learning about continuous sounds in Prep D!
As a school we are continuing to remind all students about the key rules when they see Ginny. Lots of people are getting stamps for empathy when giving Ginny the space that she needs in the yard.
