Learning & Teaching Report

Benjamin White

It’s hard to believe that we’re at the halfway mark of Term 2. We’ve covered so much ground over that past five weeks, and there’s plenty more to come in the form of learning and teaching.

Year 10 Careers Camp: Inspiring our Students' Futures

We have recently completed our Year 10 Careers Camp. I'm delighted to report that it was a resounding success. Students spent three days exploring a variety of pathways through interactive workshops, insightful speaker sessions, and hands-on activities.

Our dedicated staff and the expert facilitators worked diligently to ensure each student was both challenged and supported as they navigated new experiences and possibilities. This real-world exposure provides our students with an exceptional opportunity to understand different career paths, helping them make informed decisions for their future studies and careers.

I want to express my gratitude to Mr Michael Harms for his thorough organisation of this experience, and to all the teachers who attended to ensure this camp was a success.

Preparation for Semester 1 Exam Period

Looking ahead, we are rapidly approaching the Semester 1 exam period. This is a critical time in the Learning and Teaching calendar, offering our students the chance to demonstrate their understanding of the topics covered so far. I encourage students to start their revision early, using all resources at their disposal. Parents and caregivers, your support during this time is invaluable.

Our teaching staff are committed to supporting students in their preparation, with review materials, and individual support available. A detailed exam schedule will be published to all students in due course.

Alternate Exam Room Utilisation

I would also like to take this opportunity to talk about the Alternate Exam Room. We understand that some students may need additional support during exams, whether due to learning differences, temporary health conditions, or the need for specific accommodations to perform at their best.

To this end, our Alternate Exam Room is designed to provide a quiet, less crowded space with support staff on hand. Use of this room is determined on a case-by-case basis, and we aim to communicate with families as effectively as possible regarding this provision. Should your child be recommended for use of the Alternate Exam Room, we will ensure clear communication with you, via PAM, in advance of the exams. This is part of our commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for every student to succeed.
