Guitar and Bass Soiree

Guitar and Bass Soiree was back in its 'Live' format on the 29th of August in the PAC led by Tom Krieg and Marcus Kurban. 

The night comprised of performances from all students learning Guitar and Electric bass at VBC and was a great opportunity for students to perform to family and friends in an intimate, informal setting. 

Groups performed eclectic arrangements of popular songs along with special guest from our year 12 VCE Music class. 

Congratulations to those involved and a big thank you to all the parent support showed on the night.

Battle of the Bands

The first ever VBC ‘Battle of the Bands’ was held over term 3, organised and led by our Music Captain, Leo Brasch. 

In all, 14 acts entered the competition and performed at lunch time concerts comprising of a middle school final, two senior years heats, and a senior year’s final.

In the end ‘Injustice’ who performed a note for note rendition of Metallica’s Master of Puppets were our middle school winners.

In the Senior year’s final, Year 11 group ‘Stonely’ were our winners, playing their version of Creep by Radiohead and an original composition. 

Members: James D, Mitchel H, Lachlan M, Hudson E and Krishna M.

Congratulations!

Runners up included Year 10 group, R.A.T.S. and Year 12 group Zero City.

Special mention to the staff band ‘Time in Lieu’ who performed an energetic version of Tenacious D’s ‘Tribute’.

The competition was well supported by students and a highlight of the term and for many students, the first time performing on the J Block stage! 

Due to the success the team hopes to make it an annual event.

String Soiree

On Thursday 8 September, all violin, viola, ‘cello and double bass students from Years 7 to 12 performed at the String Soiree. 

Friends and family enjoyed a fabulous evening of great music.

Jazz Night at Brunswick Ballroom

On Tuesday 13th September, the Jazz Bands at Viewbank College including the Ellington, Fitzgerald and Hancock Bands performed at the Brunswick Ballroom.

This was an amazing and enjoyable night of music making which had some exciting swing, cool improvisations and funky grooves.
