From the Principal Class

Term 3 has provided us with a full academic and co-curricular program for the first time in three years.

This has really helped rebuild our connection and it has been fantastic to see so many members of the Viewbank community back onsite.

We know that everyone is feeling fatigued, so this is a well-deserved holiday for students and staff.

As I indicated in our last newsletter, we have been able to hold many events this term.

Since the last newsletter

  • More sporting success
  • Grade 5 tours
  • Guitar & Bass Soiree
  • String Soiree
  • Jazz Night
  • Health and Physical Education week
  • Book Week (next newsletter)
  • Year 9 LEAD program
  • Languages Theatre (next newsletter)

Please see reports in this newsletter about these events!

Student Conferences

A reminder that student interim reports are available on Compass and to book in for Student Conferences (via Compass) to be held on Thursday 6th October in the first week of term 4.

Staffing

After a difficult period, our staffing has been stable this term.

This is a difficult climate for recruiting and retention, but we are working to build a positive and engaged workforce who continue to maintain high expectations of all our learners.

Covid 19

The number of cases of Covid 19 being reported has dropped significantly.

Whilst it remains circulating within our community, we will continue to provide Rapid Antigen Tests next term for staff and students.

Air purifiers in each class and office space will continue for the foreseeable future.

State School Spectacular

On Saturday, 10th September, 2022 over 3000 students from over 200 government schools across Victoria performed at the State School Spectacular at John Cain Arena.

Keep an eye out later in the year when the State School Spectacular will be broadcast on Channel 7.

Congratulations (again) to our students who were a part of the Spectacular:

  • Jack C, Principal Vocalist
  • Lachlan D, Victorian State School Choir Vocalist
  • Callum G, Lighting Crew
  • Aaron W, Alto Saxophonist

Thank you to Jack C and Andrew Van Gemert for pictures and video

Holidays

Many of our senior students will be attending exam revision and practice exam sessions during the holidays.  I encourage all our Year 12 students to take advantage of these opportunities and want to thank the teachers for their work with our students.

I wish all of our families a safe and happy holiday and we will see you back in term 4.
