House Athletics/Aths Fun Day
On Monday 22nd August our long awaited House Athletics Carnival was held. After missing out for 2 years it was an added bonus to get such perfect weather in amongst so many wet days. Students from years Prep-6 were all very excited and some a bit nervous not really knowing what to expect.
All students participated and competed extremely well and I was very impressed by the enthusiasm and good sportsmanship displayed. We had some excellent results with a team of 42 students going on to compete at the District Athletics competition.
In a very close finish between first and second place Brackenbury ended up first, Anderson second, Forbes third and Yarra fourth.
The Prep-2 students enjoyed jumping in the jumping pits and races on the track followed by tabloid sports. The Prep’s highlight was however, racing 400m with their buddies.
We were very fortunate to have the help of Warrandyte High School students who helped in the running of the events on the day.
Congratulations to all our students who made it through to District!
Thank you to Kim Charbonneau for taking a great selection of fabulous photos.
District Athletics
District Athletics was held on Thursday 1st September, again at Doncaster Athletics Track.
Competition is a bit harder at this level and all our students performed at their best.
Congratulations to the following students who won their events to now go onto the Manningham/Maroondah/ Yarra Division:
9/10 y.o Boys Triple Jump: Archie Pelosi
11 y.o Boys long Jump: Nash Fuga
11 y.o Girls Hurdles: Sonia Farrell
12 y.o Boys 800m: Charlie Clarke
Division will be held on Thursday 6th October at Bill Stewart Athletics Track in Burwood.
Parents will need to transport their child to this round.
Round Robins
On Friday 7th October we are competing in the District Volleyball competition held at Milgate Primary. Good luck to our students who have been training for a long time now when the weather has permitted.
On Wednesday 12th October our All Stars Girls Hooptime team will be competing at Bulleen stadium in the District Basketball. After the girls great effort at Hooptime I’m sure they will be very competitive.
Thank you to Leanne Whitmore, Carmen Greenhill and Sharni Pearce who have offered to help transport/coach/score for these teams.
Lost Property
As per usual there is more than a mountain of un-named lost property at the moment and many lunchboxes and drink bottles. Please come and check, the named items will be returned but un-named will be donated to the uniform shop and the rest will be taken to Savers. We just do not have the space to ‘house’ all this clothing or the lunch boxes and drink bottles. Please also ask your child to check. Thank you.
