Grade 5/6 Students
Celebrating our fantastic Fives and sensational Sixes!
As students are preparing for the unveiling of their tennis ball launcher at the end of week 9, which is only next week, it has been time to investigate some engineering. Here the students have to try and make the longest and strongest bridge. It seems that most groups decided that they would go for strong OR long, there was only one group that decided to try both strong and long at the same time. Here we have Scarlett, Tabitha, Mila, Jaimee, Ariana, Ollie and Leon all working together to try and meet their goals. The students have also recently taken part in Monty on the Mic. They created persuasives on a variety of topics and presented to the class. We had homework should be compulsory and homework should not be compulsory, and then various technology and multiple language debates. The students presented beautifully. Here we have Henry, demonstrating good eye contact as he shared his affirmative arguments on the topic of people speaking a second language.

Book week saw our class be creative and dress up in many wonderful ways. This year book week took on some extra significance in 5/6B and the students worked diligently. We also enjoyed a visit from a local author and continued to work on our lit circles. These have been a real highlight in 5/6B and the standard of work has been outstanding!

Monty on the Mic!
A big shout out and congratulations to Grade 5/6C representative Lewes C for his amazing persuasive piece written for Monty on the Mic! Lewes gave a great presentation on why students should be doing homework every night! I think you might be on to something there Lewes!

IS THAT BIGFOOT?
Ahhh Bigfoot! Oh no, that’s just the outline of Liam P’s foot for our area lessons in maths! Students were to estimate how many cm2 their foot would be and then would measure it out using grid paper.

Benjamine just spent $10,000 at JB Hifi! Hope her parents are ok with that!
Exploring adding and subtracting decimals has never been more expensive.

Its time for 'Monty on the Mic' and Liam was courageous when sharing his persuasive writing piece on 'Why technology helps us' with his class.
