Leadership @ MPS

It has certainly been a very busy few weeks! The students enjoyed celebrating Book Week last week, immersing themselves in Science week activities throughout the previous week and have had an opportunity to showcase some of their most recent work in an open afternoon on Wednesday.  Before the end of term, there are excursions, incursions, a public speaking competition, more Aths carnivals, and of course, Footy Day to look forward to.

Thank you to those that attended and worked so hard at the Working Bee. We had lower than anticipated numbers, yet still managed to complete many tasks on the list. Thank you to Dave Joseph (SAKG) who coordinated the relocation of many of our plants and garden beds, Dave Koolstra for general coordination and to the following staff that gave up their Saturday:

Rach Wong, Matt Lewis, Jess Bailey, Steph Deacon, Ali , Eta, Sandy and Junko!

There will be some scheduled works for the first week of the school holidays in preparation for the new build - the existing shed will be relocated, the rotunda will be removed, some of the playground will be temporarily removed and more of the garden will be relocated.  By the time Term 4 commences, we will have a definite timeline and be able to let you know which construction company has been awarded the tender.

Annual Parent/Caregiver Survey

Thank you those that have been able to find the time to complete the annual DET school survey. If you have been one of the lucky ones selected, we would really appreciate your input. The survey will be closed on Friday 16th September, so there's time left!

Staff Update

Unfortunately Mrs George is unwell and as a result , we have needed to make the decision to place Mr Josh in Grade 5/6C for the remainder of the year. This is an exciting change for Mr Josh and one that will ensure continuity of care and learning for our Grade 5/6 students. We wish Mrs George all the best as she recovers and thank her for her for work this year. Please be patient with us as we make staffing adjustments to our PE program.

Today is Taylah's last day at Monty PS. Thank you Taylah for all the care that you have taken with our MPS students! We have been lucky to have you work with us and wish you all the very best as you move into your new house and commence work at Werribee hospital.

We are currently advertising for a replacement school nurse and will update you once this process is complete.

2023 Enrolments

Please advise office staff if your child will be moving to a different School in 2023 as we will commence planning at the start of Term 4.

Book Contacting

We would appreciate your assistance with the contacting of books.  If you are able to assist, please collect a bag of books and contact from the Office.

COVID Positive Students and Parents/Carers

If your child returns a positive RAT result and has symptoms it is very likely that your child has COVID-19.

  • You must advise the School and the Department of Health about the positive result
  • Your child must stay home for 7 days, and then only leave home once they feel well

Household contacts:Students who are household contacts of a COVID-19 case are not required to quarantine. It is required that that household contacts undertake daily rapid antigen testing five times within the 7 days of exposure.  Students from Grade 3 and above who are household contacts are required to wear face masks when indoors at school. This does not apply to students who have a valid exemption.  If your child returns a positive RAT result during this period, they must stay home for 7 days, and then only leave home once they feel well.  Note: If your child tests positive with a RAT but does not have symptoms and you don’t believe they have been in contact with anyone with COVID-19, it is recommended getting a PCR test within the first 48 hours of testing positive and stay isolated at all times until they receive their result.  If your child’s subsequent PCR test is negative, they will be able to leave isolation and return to school. If the PCR test result is positive, they must follow the steps above.

Whilst I am on leave, (by the time this is published, I should be well on my way...), Mrs Lucinda Thom will be take over the reins as Acting Principal, and Mr Matt Lewis as 2iC.

All the best for a great few weeks - stay safe and well throughout the school holiday period too!

Take care everyone,

Janene
