From the Classroom
Music
Students are becoming more proficient in their instruments this term. Grade 1s are playing the chime bars with accuracy and enthusiasm.
Grade 2s have demonstrated that they can play Twinkle Twinkle on the ocarinas with good tone and finger placement. The Grade 3s are playing recorder and singing like a choir of angels.
The Grade 4s have been playing percussion instruments and singing, learning to count beats and play different rhythms as an ensemble. They will be performing the piece they have been working on all term at the final assembly for the term.
In You Can Do It, we have been looking at the science of Gratitude. Berkely University’s review of studies on gratitude found that an attitude of gratitude reduces the number of sick days we have, improves our relationships, reduces stress hormones such as cortisol and supports better sleep amongst a host of other benefits. We have cultivated a gratitude mindset in class by creating a Gratitude Tree where students can write things that they are grateful for and completing some gratitude journal activities.
