SOUTHERN CROSS CULTURAL EXCHANGE (SCCE) WEBINAR

At SCCE, we understand that there is a lot to consider when going on exchange, which is why we are happy to offer these regular online information webinars to teach you all about your student exchange options. Our online sessions go for approximately 60 minutes and will guide you through everything you need to know about our programs. There is also time at the end of the presentation to ask questions, providing a wonderful opportunity to interact with both our staff and other future exchange students.
WA POLICE RECRUIT INFORMATION SESSION

People who have an interest in a career as a Police Officer and are 18 years of age or older are encouraged to attend a Recruit Information Session. Please be advised the Recruit Information Session provides information on the Police Officer role and recruitment process.
Recruit Information Sessions include presentations by WA Police Force Recruiting Personnel, Police Recruits and other members of the Western Australia Police Force and provide an overview of the recruitment and selection process, training requirements and job specific information relevant to a career as a police officer.
EY READY TO LAUNCH WEBINAR

This event will allow attendees to learn about the various pathways available at EY. The focus will be on how students can start their careers with EY and begin building future skills for success. Join us for a live-stream, interactive presentation and panel session where you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Learn about EY and the career paths available
- Learn how students can get future ready. We’ll explain the EY programs available to students and how and when to apply for these.
- Ask questions of a panel of EY employees. Our panellists will talk about their career pathways, including what they enjoyed at school, what they studied at university and how they ended up where they are today.
YOUNG DOCTORS WORKSHOP
Tuesday 27 September | 9:30am - 3:00pm | Perth College, Mount Lawley
How many places on your body can you measure your heart rate? Where is your blind spot? What does a real heart and eye look like, feel like… inside and out? Students will delve deeply into how the circulatory and nervous body systems work and get a hands-on experience investigating the structures within. This is an exciting, challenging and inspiring workshop in the human anatomy series that is conducted specially for inquisitive children. Students with aspirations to the medical fields will find this an invaluable experience and others will simply enjoy exploring a subject that interests them with like-minded peers.
Guided by Mr Alan Slater, a qualified gifted and talented teacher (with over 10 years experience in delivering human anatomy workshops) and accompanied by our wonderful Emergency Nurse, Yuliya, students will explore the human body like never before to develop anatomical knowledge and foster critical and creative thinking. Maximum fun and exploration… but not for the fainthearted! This event is recommended for children aged 8 to 14.
YOUNG DETECTIVES WORKSHOP
Wednesday 28 September | 9:30am - 3:00pm | Perth College, Mount Lawley
Do you love detective stories? Enter the fascinating world of forensic science and find out what experts look for when analysing evidence and solving crimes. What forensic tools do they use? Students try their skills at analysing their own fingerprints, estimating age and height from hand x-rays and footprints. They will explore the similarities and differences between real human and animal bones. The workshop also includes creating and analysing fake blood spatters, DNA extraction methods and more.
Guided by a registered teacher specialising in gifted and talented education and members from the Centre for Forensic Anthropology at UWA, students will experience hands-on sleuthing like never before to help build critical and creative thinking. Maximum fun and exploration… but not for the fainthearted! This event is recommended for children aged 10 to 12.
YOUNG ENGINEERS WORKSHOP
Thursday 29 September | 9:30am - 3:00pm | Perth College, Mount Lawley
Discover factors that engineers consider when designing strong bridges, tall towers… and of course, ensuring the safety of eggs dropped from great heights!
We delve into structural design theory and explore the amazing forces of compression, span and tension. Students will develop their planning, problem solving and team skills in the momentous contests that lay before them including the Bridge Build, Tallest Tower and, Mr Slater’s favourite, the Egg Drop Challenge. This workshop is a hands on, fun and enriching experience that allows young minds the freedom to explore and develop their engineering skills while collaborating with like-minded peers.
Guided by a registered teacher specialising in gifted and talented education, students will experience STEM like never before to help build critical and creative thinking. This event is recommended for children aged 8 to 12.
ASTROFEST 2022
Saturday 29 October | 5:30pm - 9:30pm | Curtin University, Bentley Campus
Astrofest is back in 2022 with an astronomically awesome event the whole family will enjoy! Taking place at Curtin Stadium, this astronomy festival of epic proportions will be an engaging celebration of Australian science.
As well as optical and radio telescopes observing throughout the day and night, Astrofest will feature a myriad of interesting, engaging and exciting indoor and outdoor activities for the whole family.
There will also be many different telescopes to try out, or you can bring your own for some expert advice in getting the most out of it. Bring an early supper and make yourself comfortable in the picnic area.
EA SOFTWARE ENGINEERING VIRTUAL EXPERIENCE PROGRAM
In this Virtual Experience Program, you’ll experience what life as a Software Engineer at EA would be like. We want you to feel empowered from the beginning with key insights into what lies ahead in your career at EA. You’ll utilise skills like critical thinking and problem solving while working with languages like Python and C++ to re-create and implement a new game, along with so much more. Find out more HERE.
