From the Chaplain

Rev. Dr Rosalie Clarke

Greetings to all

On Sunday our boarders attended the Orange Uniting Church.

The bible reading for the week was from Chapter 14 of the gospel of Luke. Jesus is at dinner at the home of religious leaders, and he reminds them to practice humility.  He tells them to be careful of trying to show their importance by choosing to sit themselves in the most honorable place at the table. He extends the lesson by reminding them to show hospitality to not only their special friends and family – but also to invite to dinner those people in the community who are disadvantaged, unwell, or having a hard time.

The good news of the Christian faith is that in God’s eyes we are all equally important and equally worthy. We are all good enough to share the table of God as we are all equally human and in need of forgiveness and grace. It is out of this grace that we can show genuine hospitality to others from a position of humility and honesty.

I pray that you will experience grace this fortnight and that you will be able to share this grace with others.

Have a great weekend.

Rosalie
