PRINCIPAL UPDATE

Dear Families

PLANNING DAY: THIS THURSDAY.

Just a reminder that this Thursday is a Pupil Free day. All staff will be at school planning for the term 4 program.

Care for the day is available via Cheryl or our office.

Concert:

Well we are ready and excited!!!!!!  The Arena has never seen a performance given with so much enthusiasm and talent – guaranteed.

Thank you to all families who have given the time to search for costumes- the Ops shops have been cleared of many items!

Reminders:

  • The floor is limited in space so wish the performers well and send them in the doors to us, then find your seat.
  • After the concert one parent/carer is to collect the children from the floor. This is again due to the limited space.
  • Arrival is at 6.30 ready to be seated by 6.45.
  • DVDs are available and have been pre ordered. These will be distributed asap.

Thank You:

This week I wish to acknowledge the work that Hollie has undertaken in preparing the children for the concert. She has joined us for this term but has become part of our staff and community so quickly. Her dedication to our students, staff and parents has been obvious.

Parent Survey:

The survey, which supplies valuable feedback to our school, closes this Friday. This year we have sent out invitations to supply feedback to all families. We hope and encourage all families to give the 30 minutes to complete the survey. As always it is anonymous.

COVID latest:

I have “cut” the following from a Department communication with guidelines for term 4:

  • Face masks are recommended indoors, and outdoors when you’re not able to maintain physical distancing
  • For positive cases: to minimise risk of transmission, after isolating and symptom free, it is recommended that you wear a mask up through day 10 from the date you entered isolation, but it is most important that you wear a mask the first two days out of isolation
  • For household contacts, wear a mask indoors when outside of your home (aged 8 and above) for 7 days from the date the member of your household tested positive.

Isolation:

If a student or staff member tests positive to COVID-19, they must isolate at home for a minimum of 5 days (inclusive of weekends). If they are symptom-free at the end of the 5th day of isolation, they may leave isolation on day 6.

As an additional risk mitigation, staff and students who leave isolation after 5 days are strongly recommended to undertake rapid antigen testing in the days following their isolation and test negative before attending school and to wear a mask in indoor settings and outdoors where they cannot physically distance.

Camps:

We are fortunate to have 2 camps scheduled soon after the start of term 4.

Staff and students are strongly encouraged to test at home on the morning of the camp. Where a student begins to display COVID-19 symptoms or is identified as a household-like contact while on camp, rapid antigen testing will be undertaken with parent consent.

All families in the year level attending camps are aware that to prevent the spread of any infection students who test positive while on the camp will need to be collected and transported home asap.

RAT Tests / Masks:

We still have free tests and children sized masks available for families. Just ask at the office. It would be a great idea to undertake a test prior to the start of next term so that we continue the process of normalisation of attendance of students and staff.

Thank you to all for the support and understanding when staff are unable to attend. The disjointed nature continues to be a challenge but be assured we are trying our best and fingers crossed that the challenges will diminish as the warmer weather kicks in.

Last Newsletter:

I will probably have a chance to thank everyone for their support over the year(s) before Friday, but for those who I am unable to communicate to, can I express my sincere thanks for the support and commitment our families (and extended family members) have given the school and myself. The school is a great place due to the dedication and interest shown by families, staff and obviously the children. It is extremely hard to walk away from such a positive environment. I wish everyone well on the journey that lies ahead. For my part I could not have asked for a better environment to finish my career in education. Thank You
