St Anne’s Behaviour Management Map Review

The St Anne’s Student Behaviour Policy reflects the school community's shared expectations in relation to student engagement, attendance and behaviour. This Policy sets out the clear processes to be followed in order to support students' behavioural, educational and emotional engagement.

This Policy provides an overview of how St Anne’s will:

• promote positive behaviour in the school community

• seek to prevent behavioural issues

• respond to challenging student behaviour occurring at school, at a school activity away from the

school grounds or while travelling to or from school or a school activity.

During 2022, The Wellbeing Team have been reviewing the Behaviour Management Map at St Anne’s. We have consulted with MACS ( Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools), Dan Petro ( Behaviour Analyst), and sought feedback from the staff, the students ( SRC) and the Parent Board.

Why the change?

Current behaviour map not consistently being used.
Meet the needs of all students - even extreme behaviour
Focus on both positive and negative consequences
Consistent language in relation Zones of Regulation and PBL
Timely review
Document for parents, students and staff to follow

Parent Feedback

Research demonstrates that effective schools have high levels of parental involvement. This involvement is strongly related to improved student learning, attendance and behaviour. Family involvement can have a major impact on student learning, regardless of the social or cultural background of the family. Family involvement in schools is therefore central to high quality education and is part of the core business of schools.

Tournament of the Minds

A huge congratulations to both our teams for participating in Tournament of the Minds. Each team demonstrated skills of collaboration, time management, adaptability, responsibility and commitment.

Team One performed “Villains Anonymous”. The challenge was to identify 3 protagonists from varied stories and present their side of the story where they actually were the hero or misunderstood. The twist was to respond in the genre that the story was written in. The team chose a nursery rhyme, modern day tale and fairy tale. The team went on to perform at La Trobe University, where they were judged. Whilst not gaining a place, the team performed very well.

Team Two created a play called “Gold Rush”. They opted for a STEM challenge, where they needed to create a rotating device to show off 300 grams of gold. Within their play the team needs to explain the history and importance of gold and how it has been used. This team showed great resilience, as at the last minute, they were unable to perform due to Covid. Please look out for this teams performance on Seesaw.
