Junior School

Ball Games

In August we had the first Ball Games DRAW between Ruthven and Thompson since 2004!

The Junior School gym was full of energy and excitement as Huntingtower held its traditional Ball Games Carnival. Well done to both houses on a thrilling event and to all of our Junior students who competed.

The event was made possible by Mrs Clapp and the JS staff, and we loved seeing so many parents cheering on another fun-filled carnival, and thanks goes to the P&F Association who provided a delicious sausage sizzle.

Silent Disco

Thanks to Guru Dudu who came to visit the Junior School this week and put on a fun 'Silent Disco' with the students in the gym and around the campus.

All the students got a pair of headphones and showed off their funky dance moves while letting off a bit of steam. It was a highlight for everyone in the Junior School, there was certainly lots of singing and it was fantastic to see such joy being expressed.

JS Book Parade

The students got the chance to bring their favourite characters to life a few weeks ago as the JS held their annual Book Parade, as part of Book Week!

We saw some amazing outfits and costumes, the JS staff even joined in. Thank you to Mrs Knight and Mrs Barlow for organising a wonderful day full of activities and fun.

Year 2 Camp

Year 2 students enjoyed their first overnight school camp. We were lucky to have amazing weather. Some of the activities the Y2 class experienced were cooking damper, bush walks, rock climbing, archery and stargazing. It was a great first camping experience.

Year 3

The Year 3 students wrote their own Dreamtime Stories as part of their Integrated Studies unit on Indigenous Culture. Last Friday they shared them with the Foundation students, who were very captive audiences!

Kodaly Choral Festival

On Friday September 2, after a fine performance at the Huntingtower Gala Concert earlier in the same week, the JS Chamber Choir sang at the Kodaly Choral Festival. The program featured choirs from primary and secondary schools across Melbourne, as well as elite auditioned choirs including Young Voices of Melbourne and the Australian Boys Choir Junior Singers. Our choristers sang with care and musicality and represented Huntingtower with pride.

SDSSA Basketball Round Robin

On Friday 9 September the Junior School boys and girls basketball teams competed in the SDSSA round robin. Well done to both teams, the final results were:

Boys - 3rd overall

Girls - equal 7th

Year 5 Gift Cards

Here are some adorable photos of our Year 5 students gifting cards and chocolates to the Year 12s. A little encouragement for their final weeks of school!

Father's Day Breakfast

We were thrilled to have dads from the Junior School enjoy a breakfast with the students recently to celebrate Father's Day! Lots of smiles, hugs, cards and special moments with the amazing Huntingtower dads.

Footy Colours

In the spirit of the AFL finals, the students showed off their footy jerseys and scarfs!
