Thought for the week

“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” - Leo Buscaglia

This Term, we have seen the full calendar of events that enrich the Huntingtower community return in all their glory. We have enjoyed House events, Matilda, a Music Gala, and last Sunday the return of HOSA Sports Day. For me, experiencing my first HOSA Sports Day, I was struck by the sense of community spirit and connection we have at Huntingtower. Many of the alumni had not been back to Huntingtower for many years and one past student told me, “It feels so good to be back at Huntingtower. While the place looks a little different, I can still feel the warmth and love. That is what I miss most.” I invite you to read all about the wonderful things that have been happening at Huntingtower further in this HT Bulletin.

Our deepest gratitude is extended to all the staff and volunteers who give additional hours of their time to support our events. The continued support of the staff, Parents and Friends and community is greatly appreciated.

I encourage all members of the community to never underestimate those small acts of kindness. As a community built on the value of kindness, we can at times become complacent about how special the culture at Huntingtower is. I have the privilege to welcome new families and show guests around the School on a regular basis, and the strong sense of community, kindness and respect shown between students and staff is always noticed and appreciated.

As we move into the Term break and to the final Term for 2022, I ask that every member of the community continues leading with love and kindness and takes the time to appreciate the impact that simple acts can have on others. It is certainly one way we can fulfil the Huntingtower mission of being a beneficial presence in the world.

I wish all families a happy and enjoyable Term break, and very much look forward to seeing our students back on campus on Tuesday 4 October, rested and ready for the final Term.
