PERFORMING ARTS 2022

This year students in Year 7 had Ms Reymers for Performing Arts where they focused on two topics, Music and Drama. In the Music component they worked together in mini bands to learn the Vance Joy song “Fire and the Flood”  using an instrument of their choice. For Drama they focused on Modern Fairy-tales and create a short skit to perform in groups.  

 

In Year 8 the students had Ms Handley and started off the year by learning about early Italian comedy in theatre and then they performed a short scripted piece that borrowed elements for Commedia dell’Arte. 

 

In Music students learnt about the genre of Blues and embarked on their first composition project learning skills in Recording and using Digital Audio Workstations (DAW’s). In Year 9/10 Music Production students learnt about the Production side of Music with Ms Handley focusing on Songwriting and Arranging, using DAW’s and Notation programs. In the first term the focus was on arranging and changing the style of existing pieces and the second term they were able to branch out and focus on writing their own music.  

 

In Year 9/10 Performing Arts students learnt about the Performance side of Music and Drama with Ms Handley. In the third term the focus was on Drama and scripting a performance work that focused on Serious Drama then they looked at Music and chose an instrument and song to focus on in a class band. For the fourth term they were able to embark on a passion project of their choosing and develop their skills in a performance topic of their choice.
