Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Guardians, and friends of Nazareth

The past fortnight has seen many activities occur at the College.  The highlight was the annual Presentation Evening which is the College’s Community opportunity to honour and farewell the 2022 Year 12 cohort.  Several prestigious awards were presented, and our scholarship recipients for 2023 were named and presented with their certificates.

We had guest speakers and presenters, which added to the calibre of the evening. Mr Garry Giese, a long-serving Deputy Principal of the College, spoke about his struggles with his health that dramatically changed his life.  He presented the audience with his experience and, amid adversity, how positivity and appreciation of life and what it presents have helped him and his family get through these times.  It was an inspiring message for all and a message to our Year 12 Nazarenes to go and do your best now, do not wait, as one does not know what they may encounter at a later stage.  Go forth and live life in the present, do everything you set your mind to.  Don’t allow setbacks to hold you back, instead, use them to inspire you to meet those challenges.

I thank all our presenters and wish our 2022 Year 12 class the best in their future ventures.

The College Farewell Assembly allowed the College to acknowledge the Year 12s and thank them for their past six (6) years of friendship and leadership.

It was also the 2023 College Captains' opportunity to lead the school community for the first time.  I congratulate our 2023 College Captains Alessia Alifano and Michael Nicolaou, together with the Vice Captains Gabriella Brusco and Sophie Xerri, as well as the House Captains, on their appointment and look forward to their leadership in our quest to make Nazareth the best coeducational Catholic College.

I also thank our 2022 Captains and House leaders.  Your contributions have been valued, and your voice has helped form the College's current state.  Thank you to Ruby Bolch, Lachlan Murray, Luca Rabak, Leif Meechan, and the house captains.

We have farewelled this year's Year 12s, while last night (Wednesday), we welcomed our new 2023 Year 7 students and families.  This is very much part of ensuring that the transition from Grade 6 into Year 7 is seamless and positive.  I thank Emilia Roberts, Bernadette Bryant and the Marketing and Development Team for overseeing this process.  May your experience be an extraordinary one.

In conclusion, I thank the Year 12 cohort for their maturity and respectfulness throughout their celebration day.  We are incredibly proud of all our students and wish them the best in their upcoming exams, work placements, apprenticeships, or simply holidays.  Go make your mark as Nazarenes.  Good luck, and may the Lord guide you.

Keep safe, and God bless

Mr Sam Cosentino
