First Aid

Many families and students may not be aware of the new Medical Management Policy produced by Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) that Nazareth College is obliged to follow.
Our nurse, Nikki, and any of the first aid trained staff are not permitted to provide students with medication unless it is included in the child's Medical Management Plan that is on file here at the College.
This means that we are unable to provide paracetamol, antihistamines or even throat lozenges to students unless it is prescribed in their individual Medical Management Plan.
We are able to provide Ventolin for asthma in an emergency and administer an Epipen in the case of an anaphylactic reaction.
If your child needs medication on a regular basis during school hours it is advisable that you complete a Medical Management Plan and a Medication Authority Form.
These forms are available on our website under the drop down box Our College - Policies.
It is important that your child's medical needs are kept up to date. If anything changes regarding your child's Medical Management Plan or medication please complete a new form.
