Term 4 started with a strange sense of anticipation for the HSC exams but also a quiet in the dorm. The place seems empty without a full complement of Year 12’s in residence. Of course there are the ‘new’ Year 12’s stepping up from being Year 11 in term three.

The quietest times have been Monday nights ( and a few other nights) where the majority of the senior girls are tucked up and asleep well before their allocated lights out times. Very strange! Part of the early to bed routine has been the use of the KCC gym by Senior Boarders in the mornings. While getting up early has been a struggle, all of the girls who have been going have made comments about how it's a great way to start the day.

The four new boarding captains from the two schools are all from the Senior Girls group, Elly, Risandi, Katherine and Zara have already shown leadership and ideas to make life in boarding better.

Games activities continue to create laughter and the table tennis table has been rolled out now that the weather is warming up.

JUNIOR BOYS

Welcome back to term 4. The boys have settled back into the boarding school routine well.

We have enjoyed the occasional sunny day along with the endless cold wet days. The boys have been playing board games, cards and a variety of outdoor activities. Recently we did an activity decorating cupcakes, the boys were very creative and enjoyed eating them afterwards. We also enjoyed a walk to the Botanical Garden and played on the swings and kicked the footy.

Congratulations to Jack D, Issac and Rohan who participated in the Berg Shield Cricket competition, the boys had a great game and came out with the win for Kildare. Mac Drummond also played a great game for Mater Dei.

Welcome back to term 4. The Year 10 and Year 11 students have settled back into life in boarding well. We have also had Year 12 students utilising MEBS for their HSC exams.

Jed and Angus will represent Kildare Catholic College in the Ramsay Rugby Union competition, while Ryan will represent Mater Dei College in the same competition.

Ewan played cricket for Kildare Catholic College in the Downey Shield against Mater Dei. Mater Dei won the match by 6 runs, and Ewan took 2 wickets.

On Monday 31st, Rusty will be heading to Sydney for a 6-week trial with the Nth Sydney Bears. If successful, Rusty will play for the Bears in the Harold Matthews cup. We wish Rusty all the best and he will be sorely missed at MEBS.
