Principal's News

Where every child is known, challenged and supported to be lifelong learners.

Dear St Brigid’s families and friends,

Can you believe we are already 3 weeks into Term 4. Every time I look at the school calendar it seems to be getting busier.

FUNDRAISING MEETING

As our Fundraising Coordinator is finishing up at the end of the year, we need an enthusiastic and hardworking volunteer to take up the position for 2023.  I would like to have a meeting with any interested parents to have a discussion around what the role will entail.  Any interested parents who may like more information about what fundraising will look like at St Brigid’s moving forward are welcome to join us on Wednesday 9th November at 7.00pm in the hall.

We would love to see as many interested parents as possible to attend and get an understanding of what our Fundraising looks like at St Brigid’s.

ST BRIGID'S FEE SCHEDULE FOR 2023

School fees for 2023 have increased in line with the MACS policy with an increase of 2% across all fees and levies.

School fees for the 2022 school year are now overdue unless you have a specialised payment plan in place. Families on direct debit payments please review your last statement to ensure that your fees are paid in full by end of year. Thank you to those families who have made recent payments.

Please contact Fiona Blair 95804518 or email finance@sbmord.catholic.edu.au if you have any queries regarding outstanding amounts or payments.

SCHOOL UNIFORM

It is the expectation that all students are wearing full (correct) summer uniform. A school hat must be worn at break times, with a strict 'no hat, no play' rule applying. Children are encouraged to apply their own sunscreen before they arrive at school and you may also wish them to have a ‘roll-on’ sunscreen in their bag to apply again later in the day.

NEW ST BRIGID'S UNIFORM

As mentioned last year we are in the process of transitioning to a new St Brigid's uniform. You will have seen a number of new items appear this year - sports tops, jumpers, beanies and long sleeved polos.  Over the coming months more items will become available.

These include:

  • navy short sleeved polo tops (replacing the light blue polo)
  • zip through navy jackets (replacing the bomber jacket)
  • navy sports shorts and skorts (replacing the royal blue sport uniform); and
  • navy shorts (replacing the boys grey shorts).

We are really excited.

Over the coming months our uniform will change as follows:

GIRLS SUMMER:

Summer dress with long navy socks

OR St Brigid's navy panel polo and navy scooter skort, white ankle socks

Jumper or navy zip through jacket

Microfibre navy hat

GIRLS SPORT:

House coloured sports polo and navy scooter skort or navy micofibre shorts or zip cuff trackpant

BOYS SUMMER:

St Brigid's navy panel polo with navy gaberdine shorts, navy socks

Jumper or navy zip through jacket

Microfibre navy hat

BOYS SPORT:

House coloured sports polo and navy micofibre shorts or zip cuff trackpant

GIRLS WINTER:

Tunic or skirt with white shirt and navy tights or long navy socks

OR long or short sleeved St Brigid's navy panel polo top and navy gaberdine pants, navy socks

St Brigid's jumper or navy zip through jacket

BOYS WINTER:

Long or short sleeved St Brigid's navy panel polo top and navy gaberdine pants or navy gaberdine short, navy socks

St Brigid's jumper or navy zip through jacket

During this transition period we are very happy for our students to be in both the new and old uniforms.  By the start of the 2024 school year it is our expectation that all students will be in the new school uniform.  For that reason we are no longer accepting any of the old uniform in the Second Hand Uniform Shop except for items that will continue on - girls summer dresses, winter skirts, tunics and white shirts.

WALKATHON

Well, we made it - we got to go on our Walkathon this morning with the sun shining down on us! The children were very excited to go for a walk “outside” of the school and come back to a welcome Zooper-Dooper. It was so lovely to see so many parents and toddlers join us on the walk. A big thank you to the kind gold coin donations we received from all our students. The sport leaders counted up the money and we raised $260.25.

FOUNDATION 2023 - PARENT INFORMATION EVENING

We are excitedly preparing to welcome our 2023 Foundation families and students for the Orientation program. This program continues to be a highlight of the year, as these children take their first big steps into school life. While some students already have a sibling at St Brigid’s, we cannot underestimate that can still be quite an overwhelming experience as the children transition away from a Kinder/Childcare setting into a school setting. For our new (and not so new) Foundation parents, we had a Foundation information night on Tuesday night this week. This night was a wonderful opportunity for our families meet each other, teachers and key staff who will work with them in 2023.

Our Prep 2023 Orientation Sessions are as follows:

  • Thursday 10 November 9:15am-10:45am
  • Thursday 17 November 9:15am-10:45am
  • Thursday 24 November 9:15am-10:45am
  • Thursday 1  December   9:15am-10:45am

CONGRATULATIONS

On Saturday 15th October at SunnyBoy's in Mordialloc, Josh (Jack’s dad from Foundation) and his friend Josh completed a 100km row (each!!) to fundraise for Beyond Blue.

They have raised $5,870 so far, smashing their $5K target. This was their third fundraising event in support of Beyond Blue. They are the second highest individual fundraisers overall. What an amazing effort - we are so proud of you Josh!

If you'd like to show your support, the donation page is open until 22 October - CLICK HERE to make a donation.

Yours in partnership
