Principal's Report

The year has started well with a number of events already held. One of the more important events on the calendar, is the Induction Assembly, where our Year 12 students and School Leaders are recognised. This coincides with our first Whole School Assembly which is being held on Thursday the 28th February at 9:00am. Parents of School Leaders and Year 12 parents are invited to attend the Assembly, which is being held in the WestSide Performing Arts Centre.
Swimming Sports
Our swimming sports were held on Friday 15th of February at Aquamoves in Shepparton. Attendance was very good, as was the participation on the day. The winning house and age champions will be announced at the Whole School Assembly on Thursday.
Shepparton Education Plan
Discussion and planning continues as we move towards the new entity, which comes into being on the 1st January next year. As decisions are made, they will be communicated promptly.
College Council
Our Annual General Meeting and creation of the new council will take place in March. If you are interested in being a college council member, please contact Mr Bolton at school.
Japanese Tour 2019
16 Japanese students and 4 teachers will be visiting in early Term 3. There will however, be a change, as the students will be staying at a hotel rather than in a 'home-stay' situation. We will be asking student ambassadors to be a part of the program, and be hosts across the 4 days of the visit. We also hope to visit Oshu City in November, and I am calling for Expression of Interest. Please email the school email account - mooroopna.sc@edumail.vic.gov.au and put 'Attention Mr Bolton - Japanese tour 2019' in the subject line.
School Improvement
There are a number of Professional Development programs designed to improve student outcomes that our staff are involved in this year, including the 'Science of Learning' facilitated by the University of Melbourne and 'Leading Literacy' facilitated by the Bastow Institute.
