Dear SFX Parents and Families,
What a whirlwind term this has been. Seems like only a few weeks ago that we were welcoming our new and existing families to school and here we find ourselves entering the final week of the school term. It has been fantastic to see the collaboration that has gone on at SFX within and between various groups. The School Advisory Council, Parents Association, Works and Maintenance Committee, Uniform Shop, Tuckshop, School Staff, Parish Sacramental Team, The Parish Pastoral Council and the Parish Finance Committee are all in full swing.
As the Acting Principal, I am very fortunate to be supported by such high functioning groups and individuals, and it has been their collective wisdom which has guided much of the decision making this year. I would personally like to thank the families and staff for their support of Adriana and I in the leadership of SFX in Term One.
Congratulations to Daniel Crain from Whitefriars College (past SFX student) who competed in the All Schools State Championship, in the Elite U/14 Springboard event finishing in 1st place, taking home the GOLD medal. Click here to see Daniel in action.
Sadly, I am writing to inform you of the passing of a former St Francis Xavier parent, Dane Malone. Dane and his wife Maureen educated all four of their children at SFX. He was well known to many past and present parents and staff. He was also a significant person within Catholic Education Victoria.
Dane previously served as principal at St Cecilia’s School, Glen Iris, and St Francis of Assisi School, Mill Park, before his latest role at St Martin of Tours School, Rosanna.
Dane was involved in Catholic education for over 30 years as both a principal and, before then, a teacher, and will be missed by a generation of staff, students, parents and other members of the school communities he served, particularly here at SFX where he enjoyed friendships with many past and present staff and parents.
I ask you to remember Dane, his family, his friends and colleagues at this very difficult time.
Inspired by the resilience displayed by Ruby Raynes recently at Assembly, Talia Southey summoned the courage to also participate in the World's Greatest Shave. This is something that Talia has been considering doing for quite some time in support of a dear friend with Leukemia and, watching Ruby inspired her to take that leap. Talia had her head shaved by Skye Gnaden (SFX Parent).

May you and your family be blessed as you celebrate the true meaning of Easter, from the reflection of Good Friday to the joy of Easter Sunday and the promise of eternal life.
Kind regards,
