Dear Sacred Heart Community

Sacred Heart Learning Dispositions

Curiosity, Respectful, Self Managing, Creative, Responsible and Resilient

Parents will remember that last year, our staff and students did a lot of work on developing a set of learning dispositions that will enhance the acquisition of skills and knowledge at Sacred Heart School. Our parents were also asked for their input. By the end of last year the input from all three groups had been diligently studied and we were able to formulate a set of dispositions that will be integral to our students and staff learning over the coming years. We want these dispositions to be at the forefront of our student's and staff thinking, when they are involved and challenged in learning experiences. An emphasis on presenting and understanding our “learning dispositions” has been asked of all teachers, when planning their classroom programs this term. We want all our students

  • to be able to articulate the dispositions
  • explain how they help their learning
  • identify the dispositions they already use as part of their learning
  • identify the dispositions they need to develop further
  • identify in a given situation what disposition they are using
  • identify a disposition they could use, when faced with a learning challenge

Welcome to our New Students

A big welcome to our two new students in Year One/Two,  Stephanie, and Lauren, and welcome back to Sacred Heart, Future, who left our school at the end of term one last year. I am sure you will really enjoy continuing your education at our school as you make new friends and become really connected to our beautiful school community.

Opening of the School Year Mass

On Tuesday, a letter went home to all families about our Opening of the School Year Mass on Sunday 23rd February. The Mass is a great opportunity to come together as a community and celebrate  the new school year, welcome our new Year Prep students and present our Year Five/Six school leaders. We would love to see as many families as possible join us at the 10.30am Mass, and afterwards in the school multi purpose room for some light refreshments.

Parent Teacher Interviews

A reminder that Parent/Teacher interviews take place this Tuesday 18th February. Our students will be dismissed at 1.00pm. Extend will be offering out of school care commencing at 1.00pm on this day, and parents are encouraged to register for this service. The interviews are an important opportunity to meet your child's 2020 teacher, and to share information about the upcoming school year.

Parents and Friends

Our first Parents and Friend's meeting of the year, takes place tomorrow at 9.00am in the staff room. Meetings usually run for about 45 minutes. We would love to see any mums, dads and guardians who would like to be involved in the group attend the meeting. The Parents and Friends committee is an integral part of our school community, and help organise both social and fundraising events. Tomorrow we are doing a taste test on hot cross buns for our annual Easter, hot cross bun fundraiser.

School Office Days

Our school office is open for the receiving of payments, Tuesday to Friday. We ask that any payments made in person to the office, be on one of these days.

Lunch Orders

All families will receive a hard copy of the 2020 Parade canteen menu with costings today.

Yours Sincerely

Mark Tierney

Principal
