Soccer Skills with Connor

Soccer skills with Connor:

If you watch the short tv clips in the video  you will see why it is so important to be able to dribble at speed, control the ball with different body parts and shoot with both feet :

All you will need to get ready for this lesson is the following equipment:

A soccer ball

Wall Space

Household items to use as cones such as soft toys

You could use 2 garden chairs as goal posts if you do not have a pop up goal

For the keepie-uppie challenge use a balloon to start.

Watch the attached video on Google Slides

https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1ZpcXbxeUtLmrypZPQ9h8cFaHye7dBjLf60lfZYwJDx0/edit#slide=id.g846f6d2622_0_0  to give you some ideas how to practice your dribbling and passing:

Some will be more challenging than others, just work at your own pace, speed up the skills as you go and remember to practice with both feet.

Coaching Points for Dribbling:

  1. Relaxed body (upper body over the ball)
  2. Eyes on the ball as well as the opponents feet when playing a game
  3. Head up when possible to see here opponents and team mates are.
  4. Soft, small touches.
  5. Close control of the ball.

Coaching points for Passing:

1. Select proper weight and timing of pass.

2. Look at your target (goal or team mate) before making the pass

3. Eyes on the ball at the moment of contact.

4. Good first touch to control and prepare ball.

5. Keep your toes up and the ankle locked of your kicking foot.

6. Place your non-kicking foot next to the ball, pass with your instep and follow through.

Additional Activities / ONLY IF YOU WANT

1) Find as many different ways as you can to get the ball off the floor and into your hands.

2) Print off and complete the attached word search

Art - Tuesday

Well done on drawing your self portrait. We are going to continue with your memory book this week too. Remember this project is all about your time at BPS. Have a think before you start the task today of some of your favourite memories of school.

Your task today is to create the second page of your book that you started last lesson. This page is the one directly after your portrait of you in your school uniform.

Make sure you keep your work in your Specialist home learning book (don't glue it in, just keep it loose in between some pages).

Task:

Draw a favourite moment in grade 6 so far.

Start your drawing with a grey lead pencil to draw the outline.

Add colour to your work and challenge yourself to add light and shade with your colouring. Remember it is easier to add light and shade with coloured pencils rather than markers. But as always use what drawing materials you have at home.

Here are some ideas to get you started (you can choose one of these ideas or come up with something else):

A funny moment

A fun moment; a fun lesson, a fun activity, a fun recess or lunch moment in the playground, a fun game

A favourite subject or moment in a subject that you’ve had this year

Visual Example:

Reflection

Why do you think this moment or memory is your favourite? What was special about it?

For Parents: Discuss with your child a favourite moment of your schooling.

LOTE Mandarin - Wednesday

Hello Grade 6s, today we are learning about months and dates in Mandarin.

How to say the Month and Date

Watch this video and learn with me. Please watch the video before you complete your task.

Your task

Your task this week is to record a video and upload it onto Google Classroom. You have to answer the following questions (in full sentences) in Mandarin in your video.

What is your name?

Wǒ jiào ______.

How old are you?

Wǒ _____ suì.

What is the date (yuè and rì) today?

Jīntiān shì ___ yuè ___ rì.

What day of the week is today?

Jīntiān shì xīng qí _____.

When is your birthday?

Wǒ de shēng rì shì ___ yuè ___ rì.

Bonus task

If you want to do more Mandarin, you may record a video telling me when your family members’ birthdays are. Make sure you include the month and date!

You may start the sentences with:

Wǒ māmā de shēng rì shì ________.

Wǒ Bàba de shēng rì shì ________.

… Other family members?

Performing Arts - Thursday, Special FX Make-up

Congratulations to those who made a fake nose using scar wax last week, they looked awesome.

This week for those who don’t mind blood we will be making a hole in the arm (pretty gross) and for those who don’t want to do any blood activities you are going to create and extra part of

your face using scar wax.  The choice is yours!

No Blood Activity

Using the scar wax again you are going to create an extra growth or section onto your face or even wrinkles.  You can be as big, small and creative as you like. (Recipe for scar wax is on last week’s lesson and this week’s Google Slides)

I have attached some ideas onto Google Classroom to inspire you.  I am super excited to see what you create.

Blood Activity - Making a hole in the arm (super gross!!!!!)

You will need:

• A bowl

• Toothpicks

• Cotton balls or swabs

• Small paintbrush

• White glue

• Toilet paper or facial tissue

• Cocoa powder

• Red food colouring

• Flour

• Fake blood

10 steps to making a realistic fake wound

1. Make fake blood by mixing 1 cup corn syrup, 1 tablespoon water, 2 tablespoons red food colouring, and 1 teaspoon yellow food colouring. Set aside.
2. Squeeze a dollop of glue into a bowl and add red food colouring.
3. Mix with a toothpick and add some cocoa powder to darken.
4. Separate tissue or toilet paper into single layers and tear into small pieces.
5. Dab the area where you want the fake wound with glue.
6. Arrange the bits of tissue on top of the glue.
7. Mould and shape the sticky tissue so it looks like the shape of a wound or scar.
8. Sprinkle cocoa powder around the edges to darken the wound.
9. Top off with fake blood.

10. Gross people out with your fake wound!

Photo's of each step are available on Google Classroom.
