Physical Education - Monday
Soccer Skills with Connor.
Soccer skills with Connor:
If you watch the short tv clips in the video you will see why it is so important to be able to dribble at speed, control the ball with different body parts and shoot with both feet.
All you will need to get ready for this lesson is the following equipment:
A soccer ball
Wall Space
Household items to use as cones or soft toys
You could use 2 garden chairs as goal posts if you do not have a pop up goal
For the keepie-uppie challenge use a balloon to start.
Watch the attached video on Google Slides

Some will be more challenging than others, just work at your own pace, speed up the skills as you go and remember to practice with both feet.
Coaching Points for Dribbling:
- Relaxed body (upper body over the ball)
- Eyes on the ball as well as the opponents feet when playing a game
- Head up when possible to see here opponents and team mates are.
- Soft, small touches.
- Close control of the ball.
Coaching points for Passing:
1. Select proper weight and timing of pass.
2. Look at your target (goal or team mate) before making the pass
3. Eyes on the ball at the moment of contact.
4. Good first touch to control and prepare ball.
5. Keep your toes up and the ankle locked of your kicking foot.
6. Place your non-kicking foot next to the ball, pass with your instep and follow through.
Additional Activities ONLY IF YOU WANT
1) Find as many different ways as you can to get the ball off the floor and into your hands.
2) Print off and complete the attached word search
Art - Tuesday
Your task this week is a continuation of last week's task. Looking at your character sketch from last week and the Guernica painting by Picasso, you will draw this character in the style of a portrait. Use the entire page, fill your page with your character, embracing the abstract shapes like you see in Picasso’s painting. Look at the visual examples to help you compose your portrait.
Key word of the day is ‘Monochromatic’, Monochromatic means a colour scheme that consists of variations of one colour. You can use any colour to create a monochromatic colour scheme.
You will need:
plain white paper, grey lead pencil, black, white, grey pencils for this task...try to use the entire page!
(If you have pastels or crayons at home you could use them instead), but make sure it is in keeping with the grey, white and black colours!!!
Visual Examples:
Reflection:
What was difficult about this task?
Why did you choose this character from the painting?
Was it challenging to draw, if so why?
LOTE Mandarin - Wednesday
Hello Grade 5s, today we are learning to greet others and introduce ourselves.
Let’s start with checking our task for last week.
Task from last week
Take out your Specialist exercise book, and click here to check our answers together for last week’s task.
Greetings and Introducing Our Names
Watch this video for this week’s lesson, then complete the task below.
Your task
Your task this week is to record a video of you introducing your name, your mother’s name and your father’s name. Make sure you are saying everything in Mandarin and in full sentences! You will need to upload your video onto the assignment on Google Classroom.
Extension
For those who can do a bit extra, tell me more about yourself in Mandarin in your video. Who else is in your family? What is your favourite colour? What is your favourite food? Etc.
Be creative!
Performing Arts - Thursday, Stop Motion Storyboard
Over the next 3 weeks we will be creating a Stop Motion Film to present to your year group.
You are going to need to plan out your movie in advance and complete a storyboard. (Part of your assessment)
By planning your film it means:
- The audience have a thought out story line to follow and enjoy
- You save time by knowing what equipment you are going to need
- You know what order and types of shots to film etc.
This week’s task is to plan your story and to identify the shot types you will use, any sound effects that could be included to improve the audience’s enjoyment of your movie and what equipment you may need.
You can create/present your story board in any way you like. I have included an example on Google Classroom of what it could look like, but it’s up to you.
Please upload your storyboard as it is part of your assessment for this term.
I have also included a short demo on Google Classroom created by a student to give you an idea of what your stop motion film could look like.
