Physical Education - Monday

Physical Education, Week 4 Term 2

Throwing and Catching

Throwing and Catching:

Equipment required:

Tennis ball or

Larger Ball

Beanbag (a small soft toy or pair of folded adult socks will do)

Wall space

Welcome Mrs. Pain

Teaching Points:

•    Watch the ball drop into your hands

•    Put your little fingers together and make a “birds’ nest or bowl”

•    Stand with you your feet shoulder width apart

•    To catch have your elbows in front of your body

•    Try to move your hands with the ball so that your hands are relaxed and soft when you catch the ball.

Watch the following video https://youtu.be/f9gZjGy9vB4

and go through the skills with Connor. Remember if you can do a trick 5 times in a row move onto the next challenge. If you find a skill too hard keep practising but maybe try it with a larger ball or a beanbag. Throw the ball up to head height or just above.

If you are attempting Connor's soccer keepie-uppie challenge start by letting the ball bounce in between each kick.

Additional Activities:

Make up a trick of your own, remember it is only a good trick if the ball ends up in your hand/hands.

Ask your parents to help you print off the following and color them in.  Connor's team, Western United play in a green/black shirt and black shorts.

Art - Tuesday

We are continuing our unit looking at storytelling in art. This week you are going to make a shadow puppet! You can choose what character you decide to make for your shadow puppet. If you are not sure what to make here are some ideas:

A character from your favourite book

A scary monster

A character from a fairytale

A princess / prince

You will need:

Black paper (or dark coloured paper)

Light coloured pencil

Scissors

A type of stick (can even be a chopstick!) to attach your puppet

Sticky tape or masking tape

Watch the video to show you how to make your puppet:

Reflection

What type of personality would your character have?

What stories could you make with your character?

For Parents:

Your child is going to make a story with their puppet next lesson so make sure you keep it in a safe place (such as in their Specialist home learning book, just loose don't glue it in).

Performing Arts - Thursday

GRADE 1- ‘Where The Wild Things Are’

Hi Grade 1s… I hope your home learning is going well.

For today’s lesson you’ll need some A4 paper, a grey lead pencil and some coloured pencils.

Task1: You’re going to create Story Board.

First, take a sheet of A4 and fold it to divide your page into 3.

On the top of the page you need to put your titles of ‘beginning’, ‘middle’ and ‘end’ in each of your boxes, then you need to draw a picture that shows a scene from the BEGINNING, MIDDLE, and END of the story.

Here’s an example to help you set out your work…

Task 2: Your next task is to make a Freeze-Frame for each of the pictures on your storyboard.

You can do this on your own, or you can ask a family member to help you.

REMEMBER: a Freeze-Frame is a ‘still image’, a little like when you pose for a photo; your body is totally still and you cannot use your voice.

Think: How you will use/change your face and body to clearly show how Max is feeling and what is happening in each part of the story?
