Physical Education, Week 4 Term 2

Throwing and Catching

Throwing and Catching:

Equipment required:

Tennis ball or

Larger Ball

Beanbag (a small soft toy or pair of folded adult socks will do)

Wall space

Teaching Points:

•    Look at the ball in the air and watch it land into your hands

•    Put your little fingers together and make a “birds’ nest or bowl”

•    Stand with you your feet shoulder width apart

•    To catch have your elbows in front of your body

•    Try to move your hands with the ball so that your hands are relaxed and soft when you catch the ball.

Watch the following video link:  https://youtu.be/f9gZjGy9vB4 and go through the skills with Connor. Remember if you can do a trick 5 times in a row move onto the next challenge. If you find a skill too hard keep practising but maybe try it with a larger ball or a beanbag. Throw the ball up to head height or just above.

Additional Activities:

Make up a trick of your own, remember it is only a good trick if the ball ends up in your hand/hands.

Ask your parents to help you print off the following and colour them in. Connor's team, Western United play in a green and black shirt and black shorts.

Art - Tuesday

This week, we are continuing our special artwork for a special person. We are going to use the skills we are getting better at to finish making a card for your Mum (or another special woman), for Mother’s Day. Mother’s Day is on Sunday the 10th.

Your task:

Find the dress that you made and cut out last week.

Take a piece of A4 paper (can be white or a light colour such as yellow).

Fold the A4 paper to make a card. Fold the paper long ways, so you have a long skinny rectangle (see the pictures as an example).

Glue your dress in the middle of the card and make sure there is space above and below the dress.

Draw your special person wearing the dress. Draw in grey-lead first and then you can outline in permanent marker or fine-liner.

If you use white paper and you have water-colour paints at home you can paint the background around the person. If you don’t have paints you can add some details in markers or pencils.

Finally, open up the card and write

Happy Mother’s Day

For Parents:

Please talk to your child about what is special about Mothers Day.

If you need to, you can create a card for a Grandmother, Aunt or other special woman.

This work does not need to be submitted - it is a gift artwork so please make sure they give the card to their special person.

Today we are going to be THINKING about which instruments fit in each family of the orchestra

You will need:  Pencil, ruler, paper and some colours.

Get a sheet of paper and split it into 4 sections; Strings, Brass, Woodwind and Percussion

In each section either print out the sheet attached and cut out each instrument and put it into the correct family box or draw one instrument that fits into each of the areas and colour it in.
