Message from the Principal

Achieving Excellence Together

Dear Parents and Carers,

An important part of school life is to build skills of independence and resilience in our students. Therefore, it is important that students are working towards this through a daily routine. The morning classroom routine is especially important, and we strongly encourage parents to allow children to complete daily ‘jobs’ for themselves, so that students have the opportunity to create a ‘Morning Routine’- this includes changing their classroom reader, placing their lunch order and other daily tasks. By parents encouraging their children to create this routine for themselves, our students will harness an important skill as they move through their school life.

NAPLAN

What is Naplan - The National Assessment Program– Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is an annual national assessment for all students in years 3, 5, 7 and 9. All students in these year levels participate in tests in Reading, Writing, Language Conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and Numeracy.

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) 2022 tests for Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 students will be held on Tuesday 10th, Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th of May 2022

We encourage all our students to strive to achieve their personal best in preparation and during these tests.

If your child is involved in the testing, it is important they are supported in the following ways;

·         Ensuring they are well rested and have had a good night’s sleep

·         Ensuring they eat healthy meals and snacks

·         Ensuring they engage in some exercise like walking or riding their bikes

·         By re-assuring your child to remain positive, calm and to do their personal best

Mother’s Day

Thank you to Nicole Tavita and Admira Dzuzdanovic, our parent helpers for their organisation of this week’s Mother’s Day stall. The students thoroughly enjoyed pondering on the many items that were for sale and selecting that special gift for their mother, grandmother …..

Wishing all mothers in our community a happy Mother’s Day this Sunday

Prep Enrolment 2023

We are beginning to take Prep enrolments for 2023, so that we may begin to plan the Prep Transition Program. If you have any children, or know of any friends or family, who will be attending Albanvale in 2023, please call or visit the school to receive enrolment information as soon as possible.

Outside of School Care Provider

From Term 2, our school will be changing our preferred Out of School Care provider to Big Childcare based at Victoria University Secondary College. Recently, we have had several parents provide feedback to us that Sweet Sounds were at capacity and unable to accept their bookings. Big Childcare has a significantly larger space, which will allow any family the opportunity to engage with an Out of School Care provider, should they wish. Like our current arrangements, a bus will drop-off and pick-up students from our school and transport them to the OSHC provider.

More information is available on our website.
