School of Possibilities
Welcome back to Term 2! Term 1 in the School of Possibilities was an exciting term, with students adapting quickly to the new school routine. It was wonderful to be able to head back out on excursions, with students visiting the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo, participating in inter-school summer sports and visiting the Shepparton campuses of GOTAFE and La Trobe University. We also welcomed Elevate Education and Fr Rob Galea into the college to work with the students.
This term, we continue to build our leadership skills but shift our focus to “Taking action!”. Students will engage in an “Action Project” with the aim of each project to make a positive impact. Students will plan and conduct their projects in small teams throughout the term. We can’t wait to see their impact on our community!
Students will also explore career pathways and begin to plan for work experience. Next week will see students engage in a “VCE Subject Expo” during which staff will present information about the VCE subjects that students may be able to choose from, pending student numbers and VCAA approval. We are also looking forward to attending the Careers Day Out on May 18.
Beginning in Week 4 of this term, students and their carers are invited to participate in a one-on-one careers and subject counselling session. The aim of these sessions will be to discuss student pathways, interests and opportunities, prior to Year 11 subject selections. It is expected that all students will attend at least one appointment with a parent or care-giver. Appointment bookings will open on PAM in Week 4. Bookings will be available during the day and after school hours.
I am also excited to announce that St Anne’s College was successful in attaining a fully-funded camp for Year 10 through the “Positive Start Program”. On July 18, 19 and 20, students will travel to Melbourne, staying at Urban Camp in Parkville. While in our state capital, students will engage in a range of opportunities that will build their awareness of the many pathways available to them after they have completed secondary school. In addition to exploring pathways, students will also become better acquainted with public transportation and the various attractions Melbourne has to offer. Students will be involved in the design of the camp program, ensuring they can immerse themselves in activities that foster their interests and passions. So far there have been many discussions about food, gym sessions and, of course, shopping. There will be more information sent to families in the coming weeks in preparation for this camp in Week 2 of Term 3.
The term will end with the students sitting their first exams in Week 8. Not all specialisations will run an exam. An exam timetable will be made available closer to the end of term.
With a busy term ahead, we ask that parents regularly check their emails and PAM and should they have any questions or concerns, please contact their child’s Pastoral Group Leader.

On Friday the 6th of May 2022, the Year 9s and 10s travelled by bus and went to watch Fr Rob and Alyssa perform at Eastbank. The goal of this excursion was to celebrate our Catholic Identity. During the time we were there, we were seated among the other two schools which were Notre Dame and St Augustine's. Over the two hours we had to stand up, dance and sing. The first event that we enjoyed with Fr Rob was high-energy music! This is when everyone had to stand up and sing, and we also danced.
Dakota Rogerson in Year 10 then welcomed us to Country. Fr Rob talked about his own faith journey and struggles in his life. After that we listened to more music with Alyssa and Fr Rob singing again. We also participated in an adoration of the body of Christ, which was celebrated with Fr Jackson Saunders carrying the host. The Year 9 and 10 cohorts enjoyed the experience because it was something that got everyone out of their comfort zones, we had fun together and were entertained by these amazing performers, sharing their talents.

As restrictions ease, we are excited to be able to participate in community programs once again. On May 18, our Year 10 students will be attending Careers Day Out. The event will host a range of workshops, demonstrations and talks to provide students with the opportunity to engage and interact with local businesses and trades to see what the workplace is all about.
Curated “hubs” and areas will be dedicated to certain types of careers and industries, meaning that students can really explore the variety of job opportunities available under certain banners and expand their understanding of the workplace.
This year they are extending Careers Day Out for a public session on Wednesday, May 18 from 3:00pm- 5:30pm, giving recent school leavers and job seekers an opportunity to discover the diverse range of careers, education, pathways and employment available across the region. If you are interested in attending the public session, please visit www.careersdayout.com.au to register. Bookings will be required to attend.
Further information about the event can be found at www.careersdayout.com.au
Please keep an eye on PAM communications for a permission form if your child is in Year 10.

Year 10 students Matisse O'Brien and Courtney Miller represented St Anne's College at the Shepparton ANZAC Day service on April 25. Well done girls on being your best out in the community and for the respectful way you represented the college at this important event.
