From the Principal

Benvenuto - Welcome

Today we held our annual celebration of the wonderful women in our lives. We had such an amazing attendance at our morning tea this morning. The Year 10 Food Studies group and staff did an incredible job of catering for the event and it was so lovely to hear the buzz of people connecting inside the building again! For coverage of the event please see the "Wonderful Women's Morning Tea" page in this edition of il giornale.

The significance of May as the month of Mary and the celebration of Mother’s Day this weekend, provides the perfect opportunity for us to reflect on the influence of women in our own lives, just as St Anne would have been a strong, supportive influence in the lives of Mary and Jesus. I wish all mothers and mother figures in our community a lovely, blessed Mother’s Day on Sunday – I hope you get spoilt by your loved ones.

Next week sees us undertaking NAPLAN testing online for the first time. Deputy Principal Learning and Teaching, Mel Key, and ICT Administrator Jamie Hatch have been working tirelessly to ensure that the students can access and work with the program to complete their NAPLAN tests. NAPLAN is one test, on one day, at one moment in a child’s learning journey and we need to ensure that the outcomes are considered within the whole picture of learning for the individual.

Today, the Years 9 and 10 students had a wonderful opportunity to attend the Sandhurst diocesan youth event, Ablaze. The event followed the diocesan theme for the year – 'Tell the Good News'. Students were able to listen to guest speakers and high-energy musical performances; from all reports it was a very engaging session for the attendees. Next week we also have a delegation of Year 10 students attending the 17th annual Justice Matters camp in Beechworth. This camp is an opportunity for the participants to meet with other likeminded students from across the diocese, to contemplate current social justice issues affecting the world. The students will spend three days at the camp engaging in workshops and fun activities with their peers. We look forward to them being able to share their insights and possible actions moving forward.

Wishing you all a relaxing and safe weekend where you can find some JOY in your days.
