LAMONT BOOK FAIR IS BACK FOR 2022!!

 Thursday 7th April

SFS Community Room 2:00 pm– 8:30 pm

Our annual Lamont Book Fair is back once again this year!!

The Book Fair has always been a big success at SFS, with a percentage of each book purchased given back to the school to redeem in new books for our School Library. The generosity of families has always been greatly appreciated and I know that children love going home with a new book to read!

Children will have the opportunity to view books on the Monday and Tuesday before books are available for purchase on Thursday 7th April.

The Book Fair will be held in the school Community Room and will run from 2:00 pm -8:30 pm. Parents, carers and children will be able to pop in BEFORE or AFTER their parent teacher interviews to purchase a book.

As always there will be a great selection available as well as some really great specials on our $5 bargain trolley. So head down to the Community Room on Thursday, have a browse and buy a book to enjoy. We hope to see you there.

ITALIAN

This term the seniors have been working on a graffiti wall with Salve mi chiamo (Hi my name is) and a spray can with information about themselves.  They have truly enjoyed this creative activity and produced some great work.

The Juniors this term have created a family tree with leaf rubbings and written the family members in Italian.  This has been displayed in the corridor in Learning Space 3.

They have also been working on their lanterns, made from jars and tissue paper.  These lanterns will be on display in the art show.  They were made to celebrate "Il festival della luce" (the festival of light) in honour of Santa Domenica in Verona, Italy.

They will also need to bring their drink bottle and hat. Please also remember to update your child’s profile on Operoo acknowledging you have done so on the Cross Country notification.

We will then have assembly after 1st lunch approximately 12.30 pm to announce the winning house and the winners for each race.

A reminder that if parents or family members attend to support your child, you will need to be fully vaccinated and sit in areas away from student groups which will ensure social distancing for our staff and students. You may like to bring a blanket or chairs to sit on.

COLOUR FUN RUN!!!

We are so excited that Parents and Friends are organizing the Colour Fun Run once again!!!! This will take place after the students finish their cross country run. This was a definite highlight of the day last year. And having been attacked with colour myself, I can assure you it washes out! Please support Parents and Friends in their fundraising effort through the Colour Fun Run.

SPORTS NEWS

FRIDAY SENIOR SPORTS

This week unfortunately our Interschool sports match was cancelled. As a result, Grade 5/6 continued training and Grade 3/4 finished off their summer interschool sports rotations.

Next term we are hoping to get funding for the Grade 3/4 to run golf clinics. We will keep parents notified via the newsletter and Operoo.

GRADE 6 BIKE EDUCATION

Grade 6 students had another pathway session today. We hope that they will practise the skills they have learnt over the week. We will be sending another Operoo note home to extend Grade 6 Bike Education into the first Friday next term. This is to make up for the session that Grade 6s did not have earlier this term. A reminder to parents to please give permission via Operoo and ensure profiles are up to date.

JUNIOR GOLF CLINICS

Juniors had their final golf clinics this week. We hope the students have enjoyed their golf clinics and I would like to thank Linda and Kate our coaches from the Keysborough Golf Course for their fantastic clinics. A reminder that if your child enjoyed their golf clinic this might be a sport they might be interested in joining as an after school activity. The Keysborough flyer for golf clinics they have available in Term 2 is attached in the newsletter. Linda and Kate are also offering golf clinics at the Keysborough golf course. Details have been sent home with your child and are also attached to the newsletter.

STAFF GOLF CLINIC

Once again, thanks to Linda and Kate, SFS staff will attend a golf clinic at the Keysborough Golf Course later this afternoon. Let’s hope the staff do as well as the Juniors and impress Linda and Kate as much!!

We might have some photos for you in next week’s newsletter or maybe even on Facebook!!!
