Duke of Edinburgh Award - Activity Opportunity
NSW Sport and Recreation have advised of a fantastic opportunity to be involved in the 5-week Dragon Boat Program, offered through Sydney Zodiac. This is an opportunity to take up a new activity, have a new experience, develop new skills and make some new friends along the way.
Please use the following link for further information.
The Sydney Zodiacs are the only junior youth exclusive dragon boat club in Sydney. Adult club volunteers have been Assessors for Duke of Edinburgh participants since the club's inception 10 years ago.
They have opportunities for Skill, Physical Recreation and Voluntary Service activities and have experienced adults with valid WWC checks who can be assessors.
For further information, contact sydneyzodiac@gmail.com.
To be involved, pick up an assessor form and have it completed by the club's assessor, return it to Ms Manga to be approved online in the Online Record book prior to commencing this activity.

Duke of Edinburgh Silver/Gold Adventurous Journey Hike Cancelled
As a consequence of the ongoing extreme weather events and the posted weather warnings for the Adventurous Journey hike area, it is with regret that we cancel the second adventurous journey hike for the term this weekend.

Science Club
Last week in Science Club, our younger members did two different activities along with the Year 11 and 12 Leaders. The boys made DIY Easter Jumping Beans and then did a Salt experiment. The Jumping Beans were difficult to master and involved wrapping 2 marbles in an Easter egg foil wrapper and trying to make a bean shape that should be able to jump down an inclined plane. However, as sometimes happens in Science, none of the groups were able to get the bean to work.
As for the salt experiment, the boys were able to see how the density of water changes when salt was added to it, by adding a blue food-coloured ice cube to tap vs salty water. They noticed that the blue ice mixed easily with the tap water, but it only sat on the top of the salty water.
Although our numbers at Science Club were much reduced, the boys enjoyed the activities... especially the Easter eggs they needed to eat to complete the activities.
We look forward to some new activities at Science Club next Term. All welcome Day 4 lunchtimes at 1.00 pm in S2.
