BE INVOLVED, BE CONNECTED

I AM GRATEFUL FOR...

Rosemary for postponing her holidays and staying on for Term 2 and continuing to lead our school! We are very lucky to still have you at the rudder.

BEING CONNECTED DURING LOCKDOWN - SMART TECHNOLOGIES

When we emerged from our lockdown periods we were very interested in the perspective of our students about their experience during this challenging time. We had been working with the company SMART to support our teachers with their remote learning program. They offered to come out and interview our students and teachers to get their take on the last two years. The students commented that their “best mates are classmates” and being able to be connected during the lockdown mattered, and you can read more about their experiences via the SMPPS SMART Connections article linked below. You can also watch the inspiring interviews with our teachers and students via this link. Thank you to all our teachers, parents, and students during this time, and thank you to SMART for all your support.

FUND A STORY DOG!

We are so excited to have the story dogs joining us next term. If you would like to donate towards the cost of training, outfitting, and looking after one of our story dogs you are able to donate via Qkr – Misc school items/donations- Story Dog program.

NAPLAN ANXIETY

Early next term our year 3s and our year 5s will be completing NAPLAN. The most resilient children and young people are those who rise to meet rather than retreat from the challenges presented to them. It is normal to be anxious or nervous about a test, but it helps to view this as a learning challenge. There is a fantastic article about managing anxiety and pressure by Michael Grose that you can read via this link. It has some great ideas about helping our students to remain calm and focus on doing their best.

RUN FOR THE KIDS

On Sunday the 3rd of April there was the Herald Sun ‘run for the kids’ fundraising event. Ms Bain-Lowry organised a school team of staff to run either 5 km or 15 km in support of this great cause. A big thank you to all our staff that participated, it was a great day and lots of fun! Also, congratulations to Nathaniel Corrigan, a volunteer at our school, who came 6th in the 5 km race. Well done everyone!
