BE INVOLVED, BE CONNECTED

2021 AGM REPORTING TO PARENTS

On March 30th our school presented the 2021 School Council Reporting to Parents’ Report. Thank you to the parents who attended the meeting virtually and to 2021 school council for your work, especially the work of our subcommittees.  Your connected to community attitude supports everyone around you and helps to make South Melbourne Park a place where children love to be.

I want to acknowledge and thank Nicole Le Pou our school council president for her tenacious work in helping to improve conditions for our students such as school crossing supervisors, school speed zones, traffic light sequences and realignment of Aughtie Drive.  I truly appreciated school council’s support in what was another challenging year.

SCHOOL COUNCIL 2022 OFFICE BEARERS

At the first meeting of the school council for 2022 office bearers were appointed in accordance with legislative requirements. At the end of the nomination process, I am pleased to announce to the school community the following:

School Council President – Nicole Le Pou

School Council Vice President – Danny Pinchas

Treasurer – Sarah Sorenson

Secretary – Christine Priddle

PLAYGROUND UPDATE

The new Year 2-6 play equipment project is nearly complete. The attenuating rubber surface will be applied during the school holidays.  Below is the design of the rubber surface, it has been inspired by the Australian Grand Prix racetrack.  I know the students are going to love this new outdoor learning space.

END OF TERM

This is our last newsletter for Term 1.  We return to school on Tuesday April 26 to start Term 2.  Thank you to the teachers for all your work, and for having ‘kids at heart’. It has been a busy term and a great start to the year. Some highlights of term include the formation of the buddies’ program, Teddy Bear’s Picnic, Getting to Know You interviews, Tee ball Gala Day, Lawn Bowls Emerald Cup,  Curiosity show cases and excursions.  Next term we look forward Mother’s Day VIP breakfast, District cross country, NAPLAN, Story Dogs and the Walk-a-thon.

I look forward to continuing next term as Principal of this amazing school.  As you are aware my retirement has been deferred until the end of Term 2.  A new principal will be appointed as of the beginning of Term 3.

Happy holiday everyone!
