Did You know we had a fruit orchard at school???

We have 4 minature fruit trees growing in what was once a sandpit. Β They were donated as part of our original Stephanie Alexander Program many, many years ago and we have added a small lemon tree as well. We have two apple trees, a pear tree and a nectarine tree. Β Although we don't get much fruit, we have had a piece here and there.

Β

This week's gardening session was to weed and rejuvenate this garden and our green thumb gardeners did a fabulous job. We also added some slow release fertiliser and watered in some seaweed solution to give them a boost. Once we give it a good water and add some mulch we just have to wait and watch as the seasons unfold. 🀞

If you think you might like to join us, we always welcome new green thumbs, simply find the form in Operoo and change your response.

Please continue to try an reduce the wrappers and rubbish that comes to school.Β

Our Enviromental Leaders have been doing an awesome job helping with the bins each afternoon too and I want to give them a big shout out. It is not easy separating out the rubbish as it comes from the classrooms and gently reminding the kids to ask their classmates to take their rubbish home rather than putting it in our bins. They are doing a great job supervising the rubbish into the correct bins and making sure the right bins go out on the right night.Β
