'Good manners and kindness are always in fashion'

Dear Sacred Heart families,

WOW what an incredible few weeks we have had at Sacred Heart! Although the students are showing signs of fatigue in what has been  a long and busy term, there are still smiling faces to greet us each morning.

In my role as Literacy leader I have really enjoyed seeing the MSL (Multi sensory structure language) approach being rolled out across the junior classrooms and the development in students (and teachers) is showing already. This program is lead by Mrs Kate Stroud and students are learning specific phonics through the sound pack each morning.  This will continue to flow through their reading and writing.

The teachers at Sacred Heart continue to add interest to their learning programs with the 1/2 teachers organising our very own Sacred Heart Chalkfest this week following on from the Sandy Street Art festival last weekend and artists doing a range of chalk art around the Sandringham village.

RCH GOOD FRIDAY APEAL

On Thursday 31st March the children wore a touch of yellow and we had crazy wigs, ribbons, silly socks, favourite team jerseys, vests, hats and even tutus just to name a few. It was lovely to see everyone joining in to have some fun and raise awareness of a great cause.

The Good Friday Appeal raises funds to enable The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne to provide world class care to our children.

The SRC's collected the classroom donations and we raised over $220, a fantastic effort indeed but then we had the lemonade stand...

and raised a total of  $633.50

well done Sacred Heart and thank you to you all for your generosity.

A big thank you to our SRC leaders, Delilah  Charlie, Ollie, Bowie  and to Jasper C, Audrey and Willa for helping to make the stall run smoothly and to Mrs Biffin and Miss Healy for helping make up the litres and litres of homemade lemonade. A huge thank you to the Beven family for their donation of the lemon syrup and for assisting us in this event.

There is an old adage that promotes positivity and we had that in spades yesterday.....

It was a delight to see the Year 3 students make their sacrament of Reconciliation on Wednesday evening and we thank the teachers and Mr Blake for all their time in preparing the students.

We have also had the privilege of working with the Year 6 school leaders for Open day this week. They once again did an exemplary job leading prospective families around our school,  as they are our best advocates for Sacred Heart. Please spread the word that our next Open day in on Tuesday 5th April  from 12:30pm.

Thankyou for a wonderful term and all your support this term. I wish you all a happy and well deserved holiday and a happy and holy Easter break. We look forward to seeing you all refreshed and rested ready for another great term ahead.

Only one more week of learning to go,

Have  a lovely weekend,
