National Simultaneous Storytime

ALIA's National Simultaneous Storytime takes place on Wednesday 25 May @11am. The picture story book 'Family Tree' by Josh Pyke is a beautiful story about growing up, leaving home, returning home and how we're all part of our family tree. It is a heartfelt celebration of family, community and the seasons of life to cherish and share. Further details, information and activities are available:

National Sorry Day Thursday 26th May 2022

Every May 26 in Australia, National Sorry Day, acknowledges the strength of Stolen Generations Survivors and reflects on how Australians can all play a part in the healing process for the people and nation. While this date carries great significance for the Stolen Generations and other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, it is also commemorated by Australians right around the country. https://nationaltoday.com/national-sorry-day/

Reconciliation Week 27th May - 3rd June

Reconciliation Week - 27th May to 3rd June, 2022 - follows directly on from National Sorry Day and the theme this year is Be Brave Make Change!

To celebrate and acknowledge both these events there is an array of indigenous books and stories available in the library for students to read, borrow and learn more about Australia's first people and history.

Happy Reading!
