Child Safety Update

There has been an update for parents about the Child Safety Standards and how they protect your child. The core understanding is all children have the right to be safe and that organisations have the responsibility to protect children from harm. Please read the attached document to update yourself with the standards.

Term Two Inquiry - Parent Session

Wednesday morning we had a fantastic parent inquiry session. At this session we explored the inquiry cycle and the concepts and curriculum areas we will be inquiring into in Term Two. As a group we looked at the initial thinking of the teachers based on the Victorian curriculum and then as a parent group brainstormed ideas for the inquiries; activities, guest speakers, incursions and excursions. It was a great session and I will now take this input to the next teacher planning sessions.

It is great to be able to start having these meetings again and get parent involvement / input into our inquiries. Look out for the session next term and please come along and join us.

NAPLAN State Coordinated Practice Test

Today all Grade Three and Five students sat a NAPLAN coordinated Practice test. The Grade Three students sat an Omnibus test which is a combination of Reading, Conventions of Language and Numeracy and the Grade Five students sat a Writing Test. This enabled the students to start to become familiar with the online NAPLAN testing format and also for the Government to test the system when all schools logon at the same time.

This morning went successfully and was a good learning opportunity for the students to understand the rules and format of the online test. There will be more opportunities for the children to practice using the online test format. Students can also access practice tests at home at the following website
