Above and Beyond 

Today, while the Grade 5s were completing their NAPLAN, the Grade 6 students went into the Prep Learning Space to read picture story books to their buddies. The Preps loved hearing the different stories and spending time with the big leaders of the school. After they read the stories they talked about the book and the Grade 6s asked questions to encourage the Preps to think deeply about the text. They asked questions about the characters, their favourite parts of the story and asked them to explain what had happened in the story.

We love spending time with your Prep Buddies!

Here are some reasons why.....

Riley: My prep buddy is Skyla. I like seeing her in the playground and at our buddy activity time. She’s really happy and always has a smile on her face.

Kobe: My prep buddy is Hamish. He likes sport just like me and it’s fun to spend time with him, reading stories and talking to him about his Auskick.

Indi: My prep buddy is Evie. I miss her when she’s not here. I always check-in on her on the playground and at the line.  I ask her about things she’s excited about learning at school and how her sisters and family are.  She loves talking about her dog!

Kurtis: My prep buddy is Toby. I like drawing pictures with him and reading stories together. He likes bike riding and running just like me, he makes me laugh. 

Scarlett: My buddy’s name is Saoirse. Something about Saoirse is that she is always happy to spend time with me at playtime. I look forward to coming to school.  We love to play on the bars of the playground and on the activity track outside. 

Josh: I have Aleesha and share her with Layla. I sometimes play with her at lunchtime and love our prep buddy activities together. I love that she’s always happy and cheerful and she brightens up my day because she makes me laugh.

Sam : My buddy’s name is Ned and I Iove playing basketball with him at snack and lunch. Ned is very chatty and talkative which I like. 

Lucy: Skyla is my prep buddy, shared with Riley. I love playing tiggy with her outside and doing Prep Buddy Activities together; like reading stories and drawing pictures.  I wish we could do this every week! 

Billy: Joe is my Prep buddy.  I share Joe with Kye. He’s really funny and has jokes that make me laugh. I love to run around at lunchtime playing games with his friends and my friends. We both love sport and he’s really friendly and includes everyone.

Layla: Aleesha is my Prep Buddy and I love seeing her at the bus stop every morning. Whenever I see Aleesha coming around the corner at school we run up to each other and hug each other tightly! We eat snacks together and play on the adventure playground, especially the big slide!   

Arthur: I love doing art activities with Paul for buddy activities because I enjoy watching him making art pieces and helping him to learn. He’s very positive and accepts everyone.

Aussie: My buddy’s name is Ned and I share him with Sam. He’s really good at sport, especially basketball, so we love to play together at recess. He’s funny, friendly and very chatty (in a good way).
